“Clean up here… saline solution… healing salve… stitch here. You can do it… worry later… they’ll heal.”

The healer must have seen that Abigail was shaky because she grabbed her hand and looked her in the eye. “Listen to me. They’re out of the woods. You’ve done amazing. Now we need to let them heal.”

Abigail nodded and took several shaky breaths as the betas gently nudged her aside and lifted the two alphas.

They would stay in the infirmary overnight while the healer’s medication worked along with their natural healing abilities. When Abigail looked down at herself, she saw that she looked as though she had just stepped out of a horror movie. She was covered in blood, skin that had torn off, and who knew what other bodily fluids from her two alphas.

For a moment, she stood frozen, as she thought about what might have happened if they hadn’t gotten back home in time.

But then, suddenly, Esme was there, taking her hand and leading her back to Dominic’s house. Abigail allowed the woman to lead her, following her numbly, and in Dominic’s house, Esme pulled off her soiled clothes gently. Then, covering her with a large towel, she helped her into the shower.

“I think it’s time for you to get some rest,” Esme told her after Abigail had pulled on a clean sweatshirt and pair of yoga pants.

“No.” Her voice was low and tired. “I need to be with them.”

“They’re in good hands, dear one. But tomorrow, when they wake up, they’ll need you to be at your best for them.”

Somehow, Esme coaxed Abigail into bed, and she was asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. She must have only slept for a few hours because when Abigail woke up, it was still dark. She jumped up right away, and after pulling on a pair of shoes, she raced out of the house and headed for the infirmary.

The healer smiled at her as she arrived. “They’re awake. And asking for you.”

Abigail nodded breathlessly, and the healer led her to the room where the two alphas waited for her.

They were each on their own bed, and Abigail let out an exhale of relief as she saw that some of the wounds on their faces had already healed.

She kissed Nic first and then Luke before sobbing.

“Hey, hey,” Nic said and tried to sit up, but he immediately lay back down again with a groan. “It’s okay.”

“It’s okay,” Luke added, and she grabbed his hand.

“I was so worried about you both. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat.”

“We’re here now, and the only reason we got back here is because we knew you were waiting for us.”

Luke said this and Dominic nodded.

“What happened?” Abigail demanded as she wiped away her tears.

Luke and Dominic went on to explain what had happened. They took turns, and Abigail’s stomach turned as she listened to their account of what had happened.

“So Christian is completely mad then?” she said with some finality.

Dominic nodded. “He’s gone feral. That’s why he did all this.”

“But,” Luke added, “he must have always been evil deep down because not all wolves who go feral become likethis.”

“I was ready to send the security team and a few betas after you.” Abigail laughed shakily. “We came up with a plan to scope out the Crimson Claw territory and see where you were.”

Her words were met by surprised silence.

When she turned to look at Luke and then Dominic, she saw they were both looking at her with proud smiles on their faces.

“You’ve become the real mate of an alpha,” Luke said softly.

“Yes,” Nic added, “you have shown that you belong with an alpha.”

“Now.” Luke spoke slowly. “When can we get out of here?”
