Luke

Thisisgoingtoget very, very ugly.

I just pray no one on our side gets hurt.

Because they’re doing this for me.

To protect my mate.

The thoughts surged violently through Luke’s mind as he faced down the enemy wolves who had penetrated the pack’s outer defenses.

They hadn’t expected Christian and his betas to strike so quickly.

Luke had expected his father to spend some time licking his wounds after Luke and Dominic’s escape.

Instead, their escape seemed to have fueled his father’s feral nature even further.

The Moonstone pack was prepared, but the attack still came as a surprise.

However, the timing of the attack didn’t matter any longer. Luke, Dominic, and the security team sprang into action right away.

The fight was brutal from the start as Christian’s wolves streamed into the Moonstone pack territory.

There were three dozen wolves as they had been alerted to, and though the Moonstone wolves were slightly outnumbered, they fought with a ferocity that Luke could only admire. As their enemies streamed in, Luke watched as Dominic turned to the back. Luke mirrored his movements, and watched as Abigail ran to the back of the compound, holding a pup carefully in her arms.

He exhaled with relief. At least they knew she was going to safety.

All either of them wanted was for Abigail to be protected, to be safe.

Luke was in his wolf form as he fought, and threw back his head to howl as three of Christian’s betas were put down quickly.

Dominic followed suit, and soon the sky was filled with the sounds of howling as the Moonstone pack pushed their enemies backward, away from the compound.

The fight became frenzied as Christian’s wolves pushed past their assault, and Luke staggered backward and yelped as a wolf sank its teeth into his shoulder.

Blood sprayed from his shoulder, but it was just a flesh wound. He would heal.

He had to ensure that the other wolf did not.

Luke took the wolf from behind, clawing into him, and bit down into its back.

The creature yelped, and Luke spat out chunks of fur, flesh, and blood, before clamping down again with his teeth.

He dug his claws into the creature’s side as far as he could go before ripping them away from the beast.

Luke watched through the wolf’s eyes as the entrails of the wolf were pulled from its body.

It was ugly and messy and beautiful.

Because the creature died instantly.

He was attacked almost immediately with no time to shake the blood and guts off his claws.

Luke growled and parried the attack with his teeth, getting a mouthful of claw before he bit the other wolf’s leg right off.

The creature howled shrilly, and Luke finished the job quickly by swiping at its throat with his claw.

The fight continued into the night.
