“What do you need?” His tone was amused, if heated. I was getting to him too.

I reached a hand between my legs, intending to do the work for him. Teasing be damned. “To finish what you started,” I murmured.

“Like hell you will,” he said, voice dark and serious. That single finger pushed into me, but it wasn’t enough. Instead of taking the edge off it just made me crave .. .

“More,” I insisted.

“Then ask for it, love.”

“Please.” The ache was building, and the effort it took to say the one word was immense.

A second finger nudged my entrance. This time there was a slight burn as he stretched me, and it was sogood. Slowly Caius moved his fingers in and out of me, drawing my body tighter and tighter.

I tried to snap my legs together so I could grind against his palm, but his knees kept mine firmly held wide on the outside of his.

“Caius,” I hissed, trying desperately to hold my hips still but struggling. I wanted to rock. To move. To pin him down and ride his face just like he talked about.

I couldn’t recall a time I’d felt so needy and desperate for release.

“Ask for what you want, Reagan.”

I was half a breath from telling him to go fuck himself, but I had no doubt that would backfire. So I pulled on what little courage I had, emboldened by my own desperate and immediate need, then asked for exactly what I wanted.

“Pleasemake me come.”

Caius let out a deep, throaty rumble of satisfaction. Two fingers shoved into me hard, making my eyes nearly roll back in my head. His thumb circled my clit, not light but with a touch more pressure than before. It was perfect. My head fell back, and I let out a low moan and the surge of pleasure began to roll through me.

My legs shook. Muscles spasmed wildly out of control as everything in me tightened to the point of pain. Another sweep of his thumb across my clit made me jolt. Everything unlocked for a quarter of a second as the greatest euphoria hit me. I lost myself in the bliss, riding his hand shamelessly.

It seemed like minutes later when the spasms finally died down and he pulled his fingers from me. Wrapping his arm around my waist, I sagged against his hard body.

I swallowed hard, mouth dry and thighs slippery. Faint flutters were still running through me. I’d had my share of friends with benefits over the years, but none of them had done that to me with just their hand, and definitely not as quickly.

Lust waned, and reality began to settle.

“I should probably go ... Get ready for the day, night, whatever it’s called here,” I said.

Caius let out a deep laugh. His hand dropped away from my hip. I clambered off of him, somewhat clumsily since my legs were still weak.

Standing in the bathroom, I ran the bathwater and looked at myself in the mirror.

Flushed skin and tangled hair. A soft afterglow on my brown skin. Absentmindedly, I traced my lips, thinking of the hunger in his kiss and how much I wanted him to kiss me that way over and over.

A pang of guilt hit me. What had I done? He said he didn’t have expectations, but he claimed we were mates. Of course he had expectations. I didn’t want to lead him on. What happened shouldn’t happen again. It was great, but I was leaving in six months.

I was.

I was leaving.

There was no way I would fall for Caius.

I was stronger than that.

In a whisper drowned out by the sound of the running water, I only had one thing to say to the woman in the mirror.

“Liar.”
