Sadie had given Ada her entire day. The previous Saturday, they’d had morning sex and then Sadie had gone to meet an old university friend for lunch and she’d gone to the theatre that night and Ada and Mel had friends over to watch the football. Mel was a United fan and Ada joked that she was a Posh Spice fan, which was close enough. Ada had texted Stuart the whole time. He supported Liverpool which she said was boring – ‘oh you support the team in your home city, very original’ – because she knew it would drive him nuts.
