Page 36 of His Wild Mate

“Don't be dumb, Audrey. Of course she's a wolf,” Willow argued.

“But she's in her wolf form.”

“Duh.”

Audrey stuck her tongue out at Willow, and I growled.

The girls all jumped, but Willow grinned.

“She doesn't like you picking on me, Aud.”

“How do you know that?” the biggest one asked.

“I can just tell.”

I smiled, but the way the girls jumped back told me it probably looked more menacing than I anticipated.

“Hi. I'm Lily. Do you remember me?”

I nodded my head.

“This is Paige, Mommy,” Willow told her. “She's my friend.”

Friend? I'd never had a friend before.

Lily nodded. “Thank you,” she told me, but I didn't know why.

“Paige, do you want to join us?” Willow asked.

I nodded again.

“Is she going to eat as a wolf?” the oldest girl asked.

“Stop it, Cammie. She can be a wolf if she wants to be a wolf,” Willow argued.

“Whatever you're comfortable with, Paige. We're just happy to have you join us. But if you want to shift, it's okay with us.”

I hesitated then let myself shift.

It wasn't easy for me to allow myself to be vulnerable like that, especially knowing I wasn't entirely through this heat cycle yet.

Cammie gasped.

The littlest kid pointed at me.

Audrey laughed. “She's naked.”

“Mind your manners. You all have seen shifters shift before. We're always naked. It's not a big deal.”

“But she should go get dressed now,” Cammie argued.

I could feel my confidence deflate. I didn't have any clothes to put on. I stepped back toward the door, ready to retreat again.

“Do you have any clothes?” Lily asked.

I shook my head.

Willow shot her sisters a glare and jumped up from her seat. She walked over and took my hand as she led me back into the bedroom.
