I could admit I lied because I wanted Dominic all to myself, in every aspect. After all, I didn’t want to jeopardize his job, even if he said he couldn’t be ruined. A part of me wanted to show him I could be trustworthy. So, I made it my business to keep whatever we were doing on the hush.
“Are you lying to me?”
I smirked but kept my voice neutral. “Now why would I be lying?”
“You’re smart enough to know I could get the video pulled from the club if I wanted to.”
I laughed and shook my head. “Using your father’s power to call my bluff is a threat. Are you threatening me, friend?”
“Yes.”
I laughed louder and she held her stance.
“Fine. Call your father—or better yet, throw his name around to get what you want. Just remember, if you’re wrong, you have to fix me a full five-course meal for your lack of trust.”
“What?!”
“You heard me.”
“And you know I can’t cook.”
“I want a full five-course meal, complete with desserts baked right from the oven by your hands.”
“And what happens if I can’t give you that?”
“Then I get to take your cell phone for a month. No communications with anyone, including that jock you’re wanting to seduce.”
She gasped again. “That is so not fair!”
“Hmm…imagine how I feel when you tell me you’re throwing around your father’s power to get what you think you’re not getting out of me. Doesn’t seem quite fair, does it?”
Emma sucked in a deep breath. “You sure are going through great lengths to keep this covered.”
I snickered. “Emma, you’ve never accused me of lying to you like this. I don’t understand where this is coming from.”
“You told me you stepped outside to get some air; then suddenly there’s a whole story about a sexy guy who saved you. Forgive me if I only half-believe you just let him get away.”
“What would be the difference if I didn’t?”
“See! I knew it!”
I pursed my lips. “Emma, please calm down. The guy didn’t want anything to do with me. If you don’t believe me, pull the tapes; you’ll see he got away.”
Which was true. Dominic had stepped out of the elevator and left me panting as the doors closed. My pussy thumped just thinking about it.
The line quieted, and then Emma sighed. “I guess. I won’t push it. If and when you run into this mystery guy again, I better be the first to know about it.”
“Okay. Don’t get your panties in a bunch.”
“What are you doing now?”
The gates to Corniquea Hills opened and a motorcycle revved and flew out before the gates could fully open. On the seat, bent forward, clutching the handles with gloved hands, sat Dominic.
His gorgeousness hit me like a ton of bricks. In the absence of a jacket, a white sleeveless T-shirt stretched across his chiseled torso. Destroyed denim jeans rode his thighs, combat boots on his feet, aviator glasses across his eyes.
I sucked in a breath and was so caught up in his striking appearance that I almost forgot to put the car in drive to follow him.
“Hello? Hello?” Emma shouted.
