“Are you ready?”
Ellie looked around. “Oh, wait.” She rushed over to the sofa and grabbed a pillow and blanket that was folded up. “I almost forgot these.”
“Now we’re good?” Gage asked.
She nodded.
Ridge put his hand on the small of her back and maneuvered her out of the apartment and to the truck. He was damn glad he was getting her away from there, and she’d never be back.
Chapter Six
They transferred everything to Ridge’s truck when they got back to Darian’s.
Darian opened the door. “How’d it go?”
“Good. She doesn’t have a lot,” Gage said.
Darian looked down at Ellie. “The girls are anxious to see you. They’re out back. Don’t get close to the pool.”
“I won’t.”
Ridge waited until she walked away. “That prick Ron was there. I think if we hadn’t been there with her today, he would have tried something.”
“I agree,” Gage said and followed them out into the backyard. “He had a predatory look in his eyes before he saw us.” He grinned. “But Ridge had a little talk with him.”
Darian chuckled. “How’d that go?”
“I thought it went well. His abs are going to be sore for a while, but I let him off easy because Ellie was in the next room.”
Ridge heard a squeal, and then Brylee raced toward them and jumped into Gage’s arms.
“Daddy, I missed you.”
Ridge snorted when Gage and the woman kissed passionately like they hadn’t seen each other in weeks instead of hours.
Darian handed Ridge a glass after he sat in one of the comfortable outdoor chairs Darian had scattered around. His eyes followed Ellie as she sat huddled with the other girls. She looked so happy and animated, and he wanted to keep that look on her face. He had no idea how long they sat there before Elder walked out and called them in for dinner.
The ten people sat down and were immediately served. The men sat at one end and discussed business while the girls sat at the other.
Ridge noticed the men kept looking at their littles. He was amazed that these men he’d known for years and Darian his whole life, had fallen so deeply in love with these girls.
His gaze landed on Ellie, and he smiled when she giggled at something one of the others said. He turned his attention to the men when he heard one of them snort.
“What?” he asked as they all looked at him with different degrees of humor.
“I think you and Ellie are going to do well together. You’re already attracted to her,” Darian said.
“Yes. How can I not be? She’s got such pretty blue eyes, and her dimples are adorable.”
“That’s how it starts,” Gage said. “And then something happens, and it hits you over the head, and then you can’t imagine your life without her in it.”
“You all are putting the cart before the horse. We’ve just met, and she might not find me attractive at all.”
Kaleb snorted. “The way she keeps glancing down at you, I’d say there was an attraction on her side, too.”
Ridge glanced her way and caught her looking at him. He smiled when a fiery blush covered her face, and she quickly turned her attention back to the girls. He pulled his eyes away from her and went back to the conversation.
Darian stood. “Girls, why don’t you go up to the playroom? The men will be in the office.”
