Oh, God. She recognized the voice as being one of the men from the barn. She struggled, but it didn’t affect him at all. She screamed in her head for her daddy and tried to bite his hand.
He swore and smacked her face before pressing against her mouth. This time, his hand was over her nose, and she felt like she would smother until he finally let up.
Her fear grew when she spotted a truck behind a grove of trees. She became hysterical, making it hard to keep his hold on her. He smacked her hard a few times, hard enough to daze her for a moment.
He tossed her into the truck and slid in after her. “Bitch, if you try anything, I’ll knock you out. It doesn’t matter to me if you’re conscious or not when I get us back to the shed. Your cunt will feel the same if you’re awake or not.”
Ellie forced her back against the door. The thought of this man touching her body made nausea creep up her throat. She swallowed several times and pressed her hand against the side of her face that he’d hurt. It throbbed, and she could tell it was starting to swell.
“You’re quite the actress. You really made me think you were oblivious when, in fact, you heard and understood every word we said in the barn that night.”
She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from screaming and stared at him. “You know when Ridge finds you, and he will find you, he’ll kill you.”
The gun snorted. “He’ll never find us. I’ll keep you for a few days and play before we take off. I’ll use you until you bore me, and then I’ll just kill you.”
She felt tears burn her eyelids at the thought of never seeing her daddy again. When she thought about the pain he would feel losing her, it made her want to lose it again and hit the bastard next to her as much as she could. But the thought of being unconscious and not able to defend herself against his rape kept her steady. She’d rather be dead than touched by this man.
They drove farther into the forest that Ridge owned on the east side of his property. He’d never taken her there before, so she got disoriented quickly.
When she saw the small shack, her heart felt like it would pound out of her chest. How the hell was she going to keep him from raping her? He was over twice her size and had no morals at all.
He pulled up a few yards from the shack.
“Come on, cunt.” He yanked her out and pointed. “Stay right there. If I have to chase you down, you’ll feel a lot of pain.”
Ellie nodded but looked around for anything to use as a weapon as he draped some kind of camouflage over the truck to hide it better.
She felt herself start to shake as he walked toward her. She kept backing up, but that just seemed to make him happy.
A sound off to the side caught their attention. Her eyes widened as a large dog, or maybe a wolf walked out of a stand of trees.
“What the fuck is that?’ Jerald said and started to reach for the gun he had in the back of his pants.
Ellie could see him panic and didn’t know what to do. When he raised the gun and pointed it at the dog, she screamed and pushed him. He lost his balance, fell to the ground, and lost his gun. The dog growled and took a few menacing steps toward them.
“Hurry, get the gun. He’ll kill us both,” Jerald said as he struggled to get to his feet as he crawled backward.
“I’d rather have him eat me than have you touch me. Right now, it looks like he wants a piece of you.”
“Fuck!” Jerald screamed, pushed to his feet, and took off.
Ellie pressed her hands over her mouth as the dog quickly got to the man and started to tear into him. Her hands went to her ears as the man screamed, and she closed her eyes tightly not to see the horror of the attack.
She had no idea how long it took. When it got quiet, she peeked to see the man in pieces several yards away and the dog sitting a few feet from her and staring at her.
Her first thought was, why the hell didn’t she run for the cabin or truck while the dog was busy? Now, it looked like her time had come.
The thing was huge. His coat was tan, black, and gray, but she guessed some of it was from dirt. She could tell he hadn’t been bathed or brushed in a while. His eyes were clear, and she couldn’t see any menace in them. Wasn’t he supposed to growl or drool if he was mean?
“Hi, puppy,” she said softly. “Thank you so much. The man was going to hurt me.”
The dog stayed still and panted like he was waiting for something.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know anything about dogs. I’m not sure what the best course of action is right now.”
The dog tilted his head to the side, and she thought it was sweet.
“You are a handsome guy, aren’t you? Or you would be if you were clean.”
