Angie and Carolyn walk out of the bathroom. They talked for a few minutes and then they hugged. Carolyn left.
He noticed the gashes on her face and arm right away.
“What happened to you?” he asked.
“A jealous cat decided to use me as a scratching post,” Angie said. “No worries. I handled the situation.”
Noah growled and said, “Who?”
“Let’s not talk about it,” she said. “Is that drink for me?”
She took the whisky out of his hand and drank it.
“Thanks, I needed that,” she said.
“Would you like another?” he asked.
“Nah, I’m good,” she replied, grinning.
He wanted to press her about what happened, but he knew that she wouldn’t tell him anything unless she wanted to. She didn’t want to. Noah knew that she was used to taking care of herself, but he wanted to address the situation because this was completely out of line.
“Was that cat’s name Selena?” he asked.
“Just a stray mangy-looking cat who forgot herself for a moment,” Angie said.
She grabbed his hand and pulled him to the dance floor. “I didn’t come all this way to stand and talk.”
Noah held her close to him and inhaled her scent. As they slowly moved around the room, everyone and everything else disappeared. They were the only two people there.
She wrapped her arms around his back. Angie tilted her head up and kissed his neck.
Noah smiled. For her to do that in front of everyone told him a lot. Angie wore her heart on her sleeve for everyone to see.
Every once in a while, he caught Selena glaring at them. He worried that she was up to no good.
Noah decided to worry about it later when Angie whispered in his ear, “Do you want to go back to my place, or do you have to stay all night?”
“Normally, I would stay all night, but I think that there are several traditions that need to be broken,” Noah said.
Apollo and Rufus were snuggled together on the couch. They were watching a Scooby-Doo marathon. Both of them looked at Noah and Angie when they came in.
“Did you have fun?” Angie asked.
Both of them let out a quiet bark.
Apollo stared at Angie’s face and jumped up from the couch. He stood on his hind legs, put both paws on her shoulder, and licked her face.
“He wants to know what happened,” Noah said.
“Let’s just say that there is at least one member of the Silent Paw Wolf Shifter Pack who isn’t a fan. But I dealt with the situation,” Angie said.
Apollo growled and Noah translated. “He wants to deal with the situation.”
She hugged her dog and gave both of them a couple of doggie cookies.
“I have a small first aid kit. I always take one with me,” she said.
“Were you a girl scout?”
