“Who is that?” I whispered.
“I have no idea,” Luke said.
“It could be Ethan looking for me.” I looked out the window and saw that it was getting late in the day. It had been hours since I had seen or talked to him. I didn’t know what he would do if he found me in his father’s room naked.
“Mr. Miller, sir,” Hector called.
I sagged in relief and Luke climbed out of the bed, but not before he took my towel and put it on. I rolled towards the far end of the bed so that Hector wouldn’t be able to see me.
“One moment, Hector,” Luke called.
He dropped a kiss on my shoulder. “Don’t worry, my love. Hector knows about us and approves. I’m sure he’s just checking on us and seeing what the plan is for dinner. I can have him give excuses that we are not feeling well.”
“We can’t avoid your family forever. We should have dinner with them.”
“What if I don’t want to? You are naked, and wet, and so very sexy.” As if to prove his point, he slid a finger inside me. I arched towards him and moaned my appreciation.
“That isn’t fair,” I sighed.
“Who ever said I was going to be fair when it came to you. I’ll be right back. Do not move. “
I rolled onto my back and watched him go. I couldn’t hear what he and Hector were talking about but I could hear the raised and stressed tones in their voice. I sat up, concerned. I didn’t have to wait long to find out what was going on as Luke came back and stood at the foot of the bed. “We have a problem. Get dressed,” he said.
Chapter 14
Luke
“How bad is it?” I asked Hector.
“We aren’t completely sure, sir.”
I was standing on the bridge with Hector, Marci, and Natalie, as Hector apprized us of the situation.
“Ms. Gwyn started feeling unwell after lunch and Mr. Charlie soon followed. Mr. Ethan was hanging out on the sundeck after lunch but went to his cabin and has not been seen since. I was going to check on him after I talked to you,” Hector said.
“What do you think it is?” I asked.
“We believe it might be food poisoning.” Hector said.
“Let’s hope that is all it is,” I said and ran a frustrated hand through my hair.
“How horrible for everyone. Do we need to get them to a doctor?” Natalie asked.
“You and Ms. Natalie are not feeling sick or having any symptoms?” Marci asked.
“No,” I said and looked over at Natalie who shook her head.
“Hector and I took our lunches after everyone else and did not eat the same food. My staff did, it stands to reason based on that information that it is food poisoning,” Marci said.
“And not some airborne virus running through my boat,” I finished for him.
“Exactly,” Hector said.
“How soon can we get to Paradise Island and get them some help?” Natalie asked.
“That’s the rub,” I said and looked at Natalie.
Hector and Marci already knew what I was going to say to Natalie. It was why they had called me up to the bridge. We needed to make some decisions and fast.
