The trip was already turning into a disaster, and we hadn’t even left port. I was more thankful than ever that I had Natalie along. Looking over at Charlie, I gave him a half shrug and asked. “Coffee?”
Chapter 7
Natalie
The sound of the engine going brought me out of my deep slumber. I rolled onto my back and stretched out my limbs, enjoying the satisfaction of a wonderful sleep and the laziness of having nothing to do. My body was sore from the night before but I couldn’t help but smile. It was a good sore, one of the best sores I’d ever had.
I rolled to my side and pressed my nose into Luke’s pillow. It smelled like pine and honey. My body tightened just with the smell of him and I laughed into the pillow. Had last night actually happened? Had I gone home with a complete stranger and had the best sex of my life? Had he professed his love to me and practically begged me to marry him?
It felt unreal, but the scent of him on the pillow, our clothes scattered around the cabin, and being on a fancy yacht confirmed it was real.
As my mind slowly came into focus and the events of the night came back, I remembered Ethan. I felt guilty that I had just left him and knew I needed to call and tell him what had happened. He must be frantic wondering where I was. I moved over to the nightstand and found my phone, preparing myself for all the calls and messages I was going to have from him. Only to find out I didn’t have a single one.
So much for thinking he might be worried about me, I thought. Annoyed, I opened my social media apps and sure enough the first picture was of Ethan standing on a boat smiling as he sailed out of the harbor. I could feel tears stinging my eyes. He hadn’t even waited for me. He hadn’t even tried to contact me. He hadn’t even given me the courtesy of a message saying good-bye.
Things had been off between Ethan and me for months now. The event of the night before had only confirmed how wrong we were for each other. If he couldn’t give me the courtesy to check in on me, he obviously wasn’t worried about me. Though, my feelings for Ethan didn’t run that deep if I had fallen into bed with Luke so easily.
It also helped me see how right Luke was for me. Ethan had never treated me how Luke did. He never made me feel how Luke did. I had agreed to go on the trip with Luke because I wanted to see what we could be. It was the most reckless thing I had ever done in my life and I was sure my friends would freak out when they found out. But I knew it was the right decision. Luke and I might not work out, but I wanted the week and the chance to find out.
I looked at the picture of Ethan and thought about responding to it. What should I do? Like it? Comment that I hoped he had a great time? Remind him that he had left his fiancé behind? Tell him he was a jerk and he didn’t deserve me? I closed my phone and threw it on the bed. The man didn’t deserve my attention or the satisfaction of a response. He obviously didn’t care about me, why should I care about him?
It might be for the best. He was off with his family having a good time and I was going to spend a week with Luke doing all the things we had done last night and more. I wasn’t sure what cell reception I would have but it didn’t matter. I didn’t see Ethan contacting me anymore than I wanted to contact him.
It was going to be the easiest break-up in the history of break-ups. By the time we got back from our trips we could hopefully talk like adults, divvy up our stuff, and go our separate ways.
Knowing there was nothing more I could do, I got out of bed, showered, and put on my clothes from the night before. It wasn’t the best clothes to be wearing but I didn’t have anything else. I hoped that Luke might have something more for me to wear but I had a feeling he would be perfectly happy if I wasn’t wearing anything at all.
He had told me to come out when I was ready and I could meet everyone else. I wasn’t sure who he meant by that but assume it meant the crew. It made me feel special that he wanted them to know me and for me to be comfortable around them.
I walked out of the cabin and down to the galley. There wasn’t anyone around but I helped myself to some coffee. My stomach growled, reminding me I needed more than just caffeine to get me going. I smiled as I thought about how much of an appetite I had worked up the night before. I was rummaging around a cabinet when I felt strong arms come around my middle.
Smiling, I leaned into Luke. His hands moved up from my waist to my breasts. I dropped my head down and turned my head towards him. He twisted me around as his mouth found mine. My arms went to his waist and down to his ass giving it a good squeeze. Luke moaned into my mouth as he pushed me up against him.
I was instantly hot for him, and I rubbed my body up against him. I could feel his erection growing in his shorts. I moved my hand from his ass to his front and gave him a slow tug. Luke sucked on my tongue as he moved his mouth from mine.
“Damn. I missed you. It’s only been a few hours, but fuck, I want you again.”
His mouth went back to mine and he kissed me with fervent passion. My hands stroked him as our tongues moved. My hips gyrated over him faster and I could feel my panties getting soaked.
“That feels so good. I would give anything to push you down on your knees right now,” Luke moaned.
I moved to do as he asked but he put his hands under my arms and stopped me.
“Fuck. You have got to be the most perfect woman that was ever created. How did I get so lucky to have you?” Luke gave me a soft kiss on the nose and then stepped away from me.
“And here I was thinking I was the lucky one.” I leaned back and smiled at him. He looked sexy and relaxed in his black gym shorts and gray T-shirt. It showed off his long-toned legs and strong biceps. The shirt strained under the muscles of his chest. I eyed his pants and gave an approving nod to the tent he still had in his shorts.
He followed my gaze and then laughed. “Later, my love. There are some people I want you to meet.”
“Okay,” I said breathlessly.
The man had professed his love to me the night before, but considering what we were doing, I hadn’t expected him to actually mean it. Hearing him say ‘my love,’ made me think he did. It gave me hope and thrilled me to think that he wanted this to work as much as I did.
“So,” he said and rubbed his hand over his face. “As you might have guessed, we have headed out and are on our way to Paradise Island. The weather looks good and we should be there in a little less than ten hours.”
“Sounds wonderful. I’ve never been there.”
A sense of dread filled me as I worried about how big the island was and if I might run into Ethan and his family. I quickly dismissed it. What were the chances?
