“Is that not your name?”

“Fuck you, Rod. I’m so sick of the back and forth with you. I know you hate me, and that’s fine. Whatever. But I gave you an out. You’re doing this to yourself. You don’t have to be in the middle of this with me.”

“I’ve been in the middle of this shit since I met you on a sidewalk. That was the beginning of you luring me into your goddamn schemes.”

“Oh. So I lured you into falling in love with me?”

His jaw unhinges before he shuts it and seethes, “You have the audacity to think I feel that way about you after the shit you did to me?”

I stare at him, unsure of how to respond. “What I did to you? I fell in love with Greg Rodwell. How fucking idiotic. Candi warned me you’d ruin my life. I didn’t listen. Stupid college kid. Right?”

“Yep. I guess so.”

“Anyway, go and fuck...” I wince and try not to cry as I slide my fingers over the edges of the folders. “I’ll be with Archer after work.” In his dreams, but that fucker had better be on call.

“Fantastic. I’ll probably stay with Tansy tonight. Tell your dad I’m working late.”

I nod, pursing my lips but still studying the folders. “Awesome. Stay safe. Don’t put a pea in her pod.”

Realizing I’m missing a folder, I walk back to his desk and take deep breaths. I set down the stack to add the other one in order, but drop it several times.

His hands go to my hips, and his mouth goes to my ear. “Like how mine was inside you?” He slides his hands over my stomach, caressing me while my throat closes. “You’d be closer to giving birth to our son or daughter.”

“Let go of me. I’m busy.”

“I bet our daughter would’ve looked just like you.”

My hand goes to my throat, and I whisper, “Stop it.”

“Our son would probably look like you. The kid wouldn’t want my genes.”

I drag his hands off my stomach and fling them behind me. “I said to stop. I don’t need fucking reminders.”

His voice hardens to steel and grips me like a vise. “But you’d love it if Junior Rhodes knocks you up?”

“I’m not having anyone’s baby.”

“Do you kiss him?”

“That’s none of your business.”

“What about Tesco? You sure were chummy with him at the field.”

“Christ. It’s none of your business who I talk to. You were talking to your blue raspberry tart girlfriend, so who cares?”

“It sounds like you’re jealous. Do you want to know what I do to Tansy?”

I slam the folder down and spin around to push his chest, but he grabs my hands. “Get the fuck out of here before I call security.”

Greg laughs. “Really? I know all the guards.”

“I fucked them all,” I sneer, regretting I spewed that garbage into the universe to fester.

His warm, brown eyes turn ice cold. “Does that mean I can fuck you on my desk?”

I wrinkle my nose. “No way in hell. Goodbye, Rod.”

Greg glares at me, but then his eyes flicker to my lips. Although he smirks, his voice pleads. “You want me to kiss you.” Speechless, I shake my head, and he leans closer. “So much you’re shaking.” Greg is a better actor than me.
