Page 51 of Protecting Siena

When I came here with Dom, he told me what to do in case something went wrong. Setting the car seat on the ground, I check Nixon over and make sure that he’s okay before I check Siena. She has broken glass in her hair and the tears keep falling. Pulling her into my arms, I try and comfort her the best I can.

“I need you to be strong for me right now. Nixon needs you to be strong.” Grabbing her face in my hands, I press a kiss to her lips and her hands grab my forearms. Using my thumbs, I wipe the tears from under her eyes. “No matter what happens, know that I love you and Nixon more than anything in the world.” I kiss her once more before I lean down and kiss Nixon inside his car seat. I make my way back down the stairs and out of the clubhouse.

Running outside right back into the firefight, I make my way to Gully and see that he’s been hit. “You alright?” I ask when I get a look at it.

“Yeah just a flesh wound.” I watch as a few of the bikers take off after a truck and some of the shooting ends.

“I think they got Evan.” He finally says after the dust settles. A few of the bikers start to make their way towards us dragging, what looks like, Tony with them.

They drop him at our feet and the biker motions behind him towards a few of the others coming up. “We got you some presents.” The biker grins. Looking down at the man on the ground in front of me, I put my gun in the back of my jeans and crouch down in front of him.

“I’ll fucking kill that bitch.” Tony spits. Blood is coming from his mouth, and I want so bad to just end his life right now, but I need some information first.

He starts to come closer to me, and Gully puts his boot into his stomach, causing him to gasp out a breath. “You won’t fucking touch her.” Looking over at Evan as he lies on the ground barely breathing, I can’t help but grin. Once these two are done with, my family will be safe.

We won’t have to look over our shoulders anymore, and I can finally give Siena everything that she’s ever wanted.

“That bitch is dead.” He coughs out. Grabbing him by the throat, I cut off his air. He starts to kick his legs and he grabs my arm, but he’s too weak to fight me.

“You’re the one who’s going to be dead.” I grin. Pulling my gun out of the back of my jeans, I put it to his head and put my finger on the trigger.

“Who else is after us?” He coughs up some blood as I release my grip on his neck.

“Evan.” His voice is now hoarse and you can barely hear the words that are coming out of his mouth. “He wants you all dead.”

“Good thing he’s on the ground behind you then.” Gully points his gun at Evan and I nod at him. He pulls the trigger without even thinking twice. Blood spatters on the biker's boots, but I have a feeling that they’ve had it happen more than a few times in the past.

Tony winces at the sound of the gun going off, and I pull the trigger and watch as the light in his eyes goes out. At twenty-six, I can safely say that this is the second time that I’ve had to take a life. Sure, I’ve beat the fuck out of a few guys way too many damn times, but never have I ended someone else’s life. I know that I had to for the sake of my family, but it still hits me to my core.

I hear the biker barking out a few orders, but I can’t make out the words. I need Siena. Getting up, I all but run to the clubhouse and up the stairs to where I left her. I can hear Gully yelling after me, but I don’t slow down. When I burst through the game room door, I see her standing there with our son and I feel like I can finally breathe again.

Her eyes meet mine and I’m sure she probably thinks I’m insane right now, but I have to touch her. I have to know that she is really here with me right now, and that I didn’t do any of this for nothing.

Walking over to her, I pull her and Nixon into my arms and I just hug them both to me. Breathing in Nixon’s baby scent, and the scent of wildflowers from Siena’s hair, I can’t help but breathe out a sigh of relief. Knowing that they are both safe is the only thing that’s important to me anymore.

“Are you okay?” Siena finally asks, breaking me out of my own head.

“Yeah. It’s over.” Her body stills in my arms, and when I look down at her face, I can see the heartbreak all over it. She knows what it means when I say it’s over, and I know that she will be mourning not only the loss of her father, but now her brother, too. Her mother is the only family that she will have left besides me and Nixon.

“What about my mother?” Her words are icy, and I know that she wants nothing to do with Melinda, and I don’t blame her.

“I don’t know. But she won’t find us. Hell, I don’t even think she cares what we do.” Her body loosens a little, but I can still feel the tension on her skin. “I love you, Siena. You and Nixon are my world and now we are finally able to do whatever we want.”

“I love you, too.” Leaning down, I kiss her deeply and feel Nixon moving his arms a little when I press up against him.

The door to the game room opens, and I see Gully and one of the bikers come in. “The prospects dealt with the mess outside. I got a call from my boys and they caught up with the truck and dealt with them, too. You guys should be clear now. We also got a car for you.” Releasing Siena, she goes over to the biker and wraps her arms around him. At first he looks shocked, but after a few seconds, he hugs her back.

“Thank you,” she whispers. When she releases him, he looks a lot more at ease. Pulling her back to my front, I reach my hand out, and shake with the biker.

“Thank you, man. We really appreciate everything you and your boys did for us. If you ever need anything--” He stops me, and shakes his head.

“Don’t worry. We’re good.” He grins at Siena and walks away. When I look over at Gully, I can see that he isn’t sure what’s going to happen next.

“You coming with us?” I ask. He looks startled at the question at first, but loosens up quickly.

“Yeah, if it’s okay with you guys?” Siena goes over to him and hugs him.

“Don’t be silly. You’re family.” She smiles brightly, and I take Nixon from her and get him into his car seat. When I look up, Siena is poking and prodding his bullet wound.

“Siena.” When she looks over at me, she smiles, but doesn’t stop poking him.

He doesn’t seem to mind all that much, but I kind of feel bad for the fucker. He took a bullet protecting us, and that’s not something that I’ll ever forget. He has become my best friend in the short time that we’ve known each other. I would lay my life on the line for him, and I know he would do the same for me.

“Come on, let’s get home.” Siena’s eyes light up and she finally stops poking Gully. She comes over to me and wraps her arms around my waist. Standing on her tip toes, she kisses my lips.

“I love you, Sloane.”
