When I pull into the small clearing, I shut the car off and get out. Walking over to her side, I check the area before I actually open her door. You can never be too careful anymore, especially since we still have her father after us. I talked to Gully the other day, and he was telling me that they are still trying to track us down. He keeps me in the loop as much as he can, but I know that at some point they are going to figure it out. They are just too stupid to see what’s right in front of their faces right now.
Helping Siena out of the car, I wrap my arm around her and pull her into my side. We slowly walk up the patch that leads us right to our spot. It isn’t much, but it does have one of the coolest views that I have ever seen before.
When we get to the top, I help her take a seat on the rock bench that we always sit on and I sit next to her. “I love this place.” She whispers. Looking over at her, I see the way her eyes take in the scene before us. She is always so damn happy here that I wish I could find a place that’s closer, but I can’t. Well, at least not one that I can afford.
Putting my hand on her stomach, I feel the baby kick and I fall in love with him or her even more than before. I can’t wait to meet this little one, and I sure as hell am ready to be able to fuck Siena anyway I want again.
“I know you’re thinking about sex.” She giggles.
I look over at her and she puts her hand over her mouth and tries not to laugh too much. “And how do you know that?” I lean over and nuzzle my face into her neck.
“Because you get this grin on your face, it’s so obvious.” Kissing the top of her head, I ignore the comment. Yeah it’s probably true, but I don’t let her know that.
We both sit and stare out at the mountains that surround us. She rests her head on my arm, and I just relish in the feel of her body against mine. The sound of the quiet is peaceful, and, although I love it, I can’t wait for the sounds of a baby filling our home either.
“What are you thinking about?” I move a strand of her hair out of her face, and she smiles.
“Just how I still can’t believe that this is our life. I’m sure my father is still looking for us, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere but here, right here in your arms.” Running my fingers down her arms, I can’t agree more.
“You know that when he finds us, he’s going to try and kill me.” She frowns at my statement, but I want her to be ready in case anything happens to me.
“But you wouldn’t leave us.” Her voice breaks, and she gets up and stands in front of me.
“I won’t, but you have to be ready in case something does happen.” I take her hand and kiss her knuckles.
She leans forward and kisses me. She knows just as well as I do that we are on borrowed time unless I can find us a way out of it. I’m still trying to figure this shit out, but I don’t want to make her promises that I can’t keep.
“Fin, just know that no matter what happens, I love you both, and I will never stop fighting for either of you.” She gives me a sad smile and my phone starts to ring.
“Yeah?” I answer on the third ring.
“Oh, sweetheart! I’m so glad I got ahold of you. There was a strange man in here asking about a Sloane and Siena. I suggest you stay gone until the coast is clear.” I look down at Siena and she has a scared expression on her face.
“Thank you Sally. I really appreciate you giving us a heads up. Can you let me know when the coast is clear?”
“Of course, my dear. I would hate to see anything bad happen to you or your little family. I’ll let you know when he leaves town. Stay safe, my dears.”
“We will. Thank you, again.” I watch as my screen darkens, and I look at Siena. She has a terrified look on her face and I hate seeing her like that.
“Slade.” She whispers.
“Just stick to the names, and no one will know the difference. Sally and the doc are the only ones that know our real names and I trust them both.” She nods her head, but she doesn’t say anything.
“If you want, I can fuck you until you can’t remember what you’re even worried about.” This time she cracks a smile and pushes at my stomach.
“You’re such a pig.” She goes to walk away, but I don’t let her. Instead, I pull her into my lap and bury my face into her neck.
“It worked though, didn’t it?” Her whole body wracks with laughter, and I’m glad I can at least get her mind off of everything for right now. She doesn’t deserve to live in fear anymore, and I sure as hell don’t want our child to live this life either.
We hang out and watch the sun set as we wait to hear from Sally. When we finally get the word, I get her home. The whole way to the house is silent, and I know we are both worried about what can happen. I will do everything in my power to protect them, and I’m going to start tonight.
