Page 4 of Protecting Siena

Looking at Siena, I can tell she isn’t comfortable with what her mother is doing to me. Hell, I’m pretty sure I’m not either, but I need this job, so I will do what I need to. “Melinda, please keep your hands off the body guard.” Xavier growls. Thank fuck. I didn’t want to have to be rude to her.

“He is here for one job, and one job only.” Melinda and Siena both look towards Xavier. “He is to protect Siena and Evan. He will not be your boy toy, and Siena; you will listen to what he says.” Siena’s face pales, and I can only hope that I affect her the way she’s affecting me.

“Yes, Daddy.” She whispers before getting out of her father’s grip and making her way up the stairs.

“Please ignore my rude daughter. She is probably still upset that I made her break up with the loser boyfriend she has been dating. He was a liability and will no longer be allowed within one hundred feet of her. If you see him, kill him.” He doesn’t look at me; he just turns his attention to his wife. “My dear, where is that son of ours?”

“Who knows?!” She exclaims, and makes her way into the other room.

Well that was pleasant. God, how the hell do people do it? They have all this fancy shit and they need people to protect them. Shit, I would much rather be poor and living in a shitty neighborhood, than being afraid of the rich bastards around this place.

“My assistant will get you Siena and Evan’s schedules; along with the list of people they are not to have any contact with. I trust my children’s safety with you, and if anything happens to either of them, I will kill you.” He looks at me and I just nod my head.

“There are guest quarters in the back and that is where you will be staying. The last man is not coming back, so I just suggest that you toss all of his belongs. I will have a group of men at the warehouse for you to choose your team from tomorrow. Be ready to train and get them ready for the job. There is a cell phone, a computer, and car keys in the guest quarters. They are yours.” With that, he walks off in the same direction as Melinda.

Making my way to the patio doors, I can’t help but think about all that’s happened in the last hour. Walking down the pathway to the guest quarters, I feel like someone is watching me. When I turn to look at the house, I see that she’s watching me. I give her a little wave and she closes the curtains quickly. Smiling to myself, I make my way inside and close the door behind me.

Looking around the room, I see that this place is nicer than I was expecting. It has a full kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. As I explore my new digs, I wonder how this gig is going to go. I know how to fight and I have been protecting myself for as long as I can remember. But to protect an eighteen year old, a twenty two year old, a mistress, a gun and women dealer, and his wife - that seems a little much.

First things first, I need to get my shit from the slimy hotel. Grabbing the cell phone and the car keys, I make my way outside and down the path to the drive way. Of course there are more cars than I can count, so I hit the unlock button and see the Audi SUV lights flash. Making my way to it, I get in, and start the car. Never in my life have I been in a car this nice. Before I can put in in reverse, I hear a knock on the window.

Looking over to the passenger side, I see her standing there looking unsure. Rolling the window down, I ask her what she needs. She gets a sly smile and I can tell she’s going to be a pain in the ass already. “Can I go with you?” She asks batting her eyes at me.

“You don’t even know where I’m going.” I reply with a smirk.

“Anywhere is better than here.” She replies with a shrug. I motion for her to get in, which she does.

Backing down the drive, I stay quiet and wait for her to say something first. I know nothing about her and I’m curious as all hell to get to know her. “So why are you working for my father?” She asks after a few minutes of silence. Looking over at her, I try to read her expressions.

“Why not?” I ask with an eyebrow raised.

She sighs and shakes her head. “He’s not a good man, and even though I know he loves me, I don’t agree with what he does for a living.” Looking back at the road, I don’t blame her. I wouldn’t want to be known as the kid of a gun and women dealer. Hell, being associated is probably going to get me in hot water more times than not.

“Even the bad men need protection. I’m only doing it because I need the money.” I state as we pull up to the hotel.
