“Fucking fantastic,” I whispered once we had both settled onto the bed once more. I yanked my girl into my arms, kissing the top of her head. “You’re the fucking dream, short stack.”
She smiled up at me, pushing forward to drop the sweetest kiss to my lips. Filling me with a sense of happiness I hadn’t been prepared for. This woman. I would do anything for her, kill anyone who threatened her. I would destroy the world just to keep her safe if I had to.
And with vamps around, ones that had murdered her dad, I just might have to. But not tonight. Tonight was about rewarding her kindness and celebrating her love, because somehow, I had managed to make this amazing creature actually love me. Didn’t know how and likely never would, but fuck if I wasn’t going to honor that emotion every chance I got. Forever.
Twenty-Two
Locklyn
I woke up on the verge of what had to be my twentieth orgasm and with Flinch’s head between my thighs. In my sleepy, dreamy state, I wasn’t sure of reality for a brief moment in time, but then he growled against me, nearly setting my entire body on fire. I gasped and grabbed his head, fisting his hair and tugging him closer. Asking for more without a single word.
I came quietly, my body shaking and my breath escaping in a gasp. No moan, no yell. Thank the gods for that because I had a feeling Zella and Rush had both heard more than enough from us overnight.
“That was a nice way to wake up.” I laughed and tugged on Flinch until he acquiesced, leading him up my body so he could lie next to me instead of on top of me.
“Goal accomplished.” He hummed and reached for me, tangling us together. “It’s late.”
I glanced over his shoulder, for the first time noting the amount of sunlight peeking around the edges of the blinds. “How late?”
“Almost lunchtime.”
I groaned and rolled away. “Zella’s going to kill me.”
“Maybe not. Rush took her to breakfast.”
“He did?”
“Yeah. They just got back about ten minutes ago.”
“Oh.” I stared at the ceiling, my brain spinning. “Are they…”
Flinch laughed. “No. Definitely not.”
“How do you know?”
“I just do.” He dropped a kiss on my collarbone. “Go take a shower. Let me check in with Rush and see what’s up with the club.”
“Sounds good.” I rose from the bed, groaning through a stretch. Every muscle hurt, every bone ached, and my thighs throbbed from the night before, but I didn’t mind a bit of it.
“You keep making noises like that and I’ll be trapping you in our bed for the day.”
I glanced over my shoulder, nearly sighing at the image of Flinch pulling his jeans over his bare hips. He tucked himself away and fastened them closed, all while looking at me with an expression of so much want. How could he possibly…
“We have to be adults.” I wrapped a sheet around myself and rose to my feet, coming around the bed to lay a hand on his bare chest and kiss his chin. “But maybe later.”
He growled, eyes sharpening as they devoured me. Not for the first time, I felt the presence of his wolf. Saw the gleam from the beast within. It didn’t scare me, though. His presence excited me instead. Something I would need to think over once I had left the sex bubble he’d captured me in.
As soon as I pushed Flinch out the door, I showered and hurried through a pretty basic morning routine, foregoing makeup and letting my hair dry naturally. I had a need to see Zella, to check in on her. To talk to her. I wanted my best friend, especially after missing her for so long.
When I walked out of the bedroom, she was sitting on the couch. Leg bouncing. Watching the door for my appearance without her usual smile on her face. I had a sudden flashback of my mom sitting that exact same way, with that same expression on her face. Knowing then exactly how much trouble I was in for some rule-breaking I couldn’t even remember anymore.
Nothing to do but get through it.
“Hi,” I said, knowing exactly how lacking that greeting was.
Zella huffed, looking me up and down. Expression hard. “You’re such a whore.”
I stood still, letting her words sink in. Eventually sighing and nodding slowly. “Pretty much.”
