Wylder laughed. “No, although that would rock. It would make my year to dress Zeke up in a penguin suit. No, I have the perfect date. Her name’s Maggie. You’ll love her.”
Maggie was worthwhile. Maybe he could impress his cousin and please his mother at the same time.
His mom shook her head. “Bring a date if you want. But whatever you do, show up.”
“Fine. Can you text me the details? I threw away the invitation.”
“Wylder!” Her hands went to her hips and she glared at him.
He smiled and pulled her in for a hug. “Sorry, not sorry. I’ll show up. And I’ll bring a date who isn’t Zeke. You’ll love Maggie, I promise.”
She sighed and hugged him in return. “I’m sure I will.”
“Okay, see you tomorrow.” Wylder stepped back and waved at his family.
“See you tomorrow,” his dad said.
