More tears flooded her eyes. He’d lost two activities he’d loved, in an accident that wasn’t his fault. She wiped at the tears. “I’m so sorry, Wylder.”

“Don’t be sorry. I’m alive, and I’m here to talk to you right now. Which is a nice surprise because I didn’t think we would talk again.”

“Why not?” She wiped her hand across her eyes and tried to control her emotions.

“You’re a celebrity and you were traveling when we met. We don’t live in the same city. Plus, I didn’t get your number the last time I saw you. I never expected to see you again.”

Maggie chuckled. “Well, it must be kismet.”

She could hear the smile in Wylder’s voice when he spoke. “Kismet, huh?”

“Yes, sir. Destiny. Fate. Whatever you want to call it. We were meant to know each other. Kismet.”

“You think so?”

“I do.”

“Okay, we’ll go with that. Meeting you is kismet. We need to play the lottery together. Maybe that’s kismet, too,” he joked.

Maggie laughed.
