Flynn chuckled and held her close. “We’ll make a lot more memories together, don’t worry. I fully intend to make that guy a distant past for you. Want to go on our first date? As boyfriend and girlfriend?”

“Sure, what do you have in mind?”

He tipped his head toward a building on the next block. “There’s a bowling alley over there.”

“Huh. That’s a pretty normal first date.”

“I know, normal is exotic, right? We never get normal anymore. This’ll be a rare treat.”

Polly laughed. “Okay, let’s do it.”
