No one would ever guess it, but it was like hiding in plain sight. I was too busy distracting the public with glitter and gold for them to notice anything else. There were only a few people on the planet that knew my secrets, and I trusted them completely.

After throwing on some boxer briefs and a pair of grey sweats, I grabbed my phone and called one of those people, letting him know exactly what I was looking for.

Information on Ms. Posie Tinley.

Chapter 5

Posie~

“Christ, you’d think that with a family as big as mine, someone would take these damn kids off my hands.”

“On your period again?” I asked.

Lennon let out a heavy sigh. “Yes, and Camden is threatening to hold me down and shove a Valium down my throat if I don’t ease up a bit.”

“The man’s learning,” I chuckled.

Lennon let out a soft laugh. “Hey, the man was warned about what he was getting into when he asked me to marry him. Dash, Crew, and Zane, all asked him if he was sure. Hell, I’m pretty sure that all the guys had pulled him aside to ask that.”

“This is true,” I acknowledged. “So, how are Hope and Christian?”

“They’re learning, too,” she answered. Lennon and her husband, Camden, had only two children, though she came from a huge family. Since they’d had one of each sex, Lennon hadn’t seen the need for more children. Camden had gotten his son, she had gotten her daughter, so all was well in the Prince household.

“How’s the rest of the family?”

“You know that I don’t have time to go into that,” she automatically replied like she always did when I asked about the others. “There’s just too damn many of them, so just know that everyone is doing well.” Then she added, “Hell, why don’t you just call them yourself and ask. They’d all love to hear from you.”

I knew that what she was saying was true. Her family wasn’t the type to lie or put up false pretenses for the sake of politeness. If they didn’t like you, they had no problem letting you know it. Still, as horrible as it sounded, there really were just too many of them. I’d be on the phone all day if I called them all to check in. Thank God for group texting.

Or maybe not.

“How’s work?” she asked. Once upon a time, I had wanted to work in environmental science and Lennon knew this. Even though I kept reassuring her that I was happy at the call center, she still worried that I hadn’t followed my dream. She kept insisting that I had chosen to follow my nightmare instead.

“Great, if you don’t count my boss trying to convince me to quit,” I answered dryly.

“What?” Then she moved the phone from her mouth, and I could hear her talking to Camden. “It’s Posie. Can I get a minute?” I wasn’t sure what Camden replied, but then she said, “I swear to God, Camden Prince, I will murder you in your sleep if you don’t distract your children for five minutes.”

Then Camden’s voice could be heard clearly. “I’d be lucky if you murdered me in my sleep,” he huffed. “You’re more likely to stab me in the eye while I’m looking dead at you.”

“And yet you’re still standing right in front of me, knowing this,” Lennon retorted.

“Tell Posie I said hi,” was his only response.

Lennon quickly got back to our conversation. “Camden says hi.”

“I heard,” I chuckled.

“Okay, so let’s get back to your boss telling you to quit.”

I gave her a quick rundown of my conversation with Killian, but I didn’t stop there. “It just sucks that he’s got such a gorgeous face,” I complained. “He should look like a toad.”

Lennon laughed. “Oh, really?”

“He also can’t make up his mind about his beard,” I added, sounding like a complete idiot.

“What?”

“It’s like…he shaves, but…if he doesn’t, he doesn’t care,” I tried to explain. “He should care. He should make up his mind if he’s going to have one or not.”
