Like she was studying me.
Or maybe deciding if I belonged inside her home.
“Say the word, and I’ll leave if you feel uncomfortable with me here, Posie.”
It was a lie.
I’d eventually leave if she wanted me to, but not without one hell of a fight.
“I don’t want you to leave,” she stated simply. “I just…I don’t think that this is going to go the way you might hope.”
I arched a brow. “Meaning?”
“I’m not like other women,” she said, and a part of me was really hoping that she was going to tell me all of her secrets, but I knew that she wasn’t going to. At least, not right now.
“If you were, I wouldn’t be here,” I assured her. “I want you, Posie. I want only you and whatever Posie that’s with me now. I already told you how your different facets fascinate me.”
“You make it sound like I have multiple personalities,” she smirked softly.
“I think we all do,” I returned. “We’re never the same person all the time. At work, we’re professionals. During outings, we’re social. With family, we’re comfortable. Alone at home, we’re our real selves, whether we like it or not.”
“So, who are you now?” she asked. “Because we’re not at work, we’re not at an outing, we’re not with family, and we’re not home alone.”
“I’m the real me,” I answered her. “I’m always the real me when I’m with you. If I weren’t, I never would have kissed you, Posie. I never would have crossed that line. I would have suffered as your boss only, and you would have never been the wiser.”
She gave me a solemn nod before saying, “I think there’s something that you should know about me-”
“Do you want me here, Posie?” I asked, interrupting what I knew would be her confession, even though I really wanted to hear it. “Do you want me?”
“You know the answer to that,” she said. “Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here. Otherwise, that kiss wouldn’t have happened.”
“Then that’s all I need to hear from you right now,” I told her honestly. “I don’t care about your secrets, or mine for that matter. There’ll be plenty of time for all the ugly stuff later.”
“How do you know that my secrets are ugly?” she asked, and I could feel my chest cracking open with her silent accusation. I also felt guilty that I knew something that she hadn’t given me permission to know yet.
“I was referring to my secrets,” I semi-lied. “And if it bothers you to know that I have them, I need to know now.”
“So, not only are you my boss, but you’ve just admitted to having ugly secrets, yet not interested in hearing any of mine before we move forward with this very, very, very bad idea?” she posed.
“I’m saying that I want you, regardless of being your boss or any secrets that we might have,” I corrected. “I already told you that I thought you were worth crashing and burning for, Posie.”
“People say a lot of things, Killian,” she returned. “Most of it is never the truth.”
“I’m not lying to you, Posie.”
She didn’t comment for a while, but when she finally did, she said, “I like to be on top.”
“What else?” I asked as I walked towards her slowly.
“I don’t like to be held down.”
“What else?”
“I don’t like a hand over my mouth.”
“What else?”
“I…I…” Posie was losing her train of thought. I was standing before her, her body trapped between me and the door. “I…can’t…” She took a deep breath. “Don’t take it personally, but I can’t cum.”
