“Well not like this,” Cullen says with a smirk, gesturing down at our bodies beneath the duvet. “But yes. When she did exceptional work, she got rewarded with a half day here and there.”

“Ok,” I say.

I’m not sure if I believe him or not, but I am still feeling so sleepy and I’m warm and comfortable and I don’t want to move yet so I chose to believe him.

Cullen smiles and leans down and kisses my forehead.

“See you when you come in,” he says.

I nod my agreement and close my eyes and I drift off back to sleep.

Chapter 25

Max

Iwake up again and see that it’s past ten am. I can’t remember the last time I slept in that late on a work day without being sick and it’s nice to have a little bit of time to recharge my batteries. Cullen said to take half a day and I know if I get ready and go straight into the office now, he will only send me back away and so I decide to take a nice bubble bath instead of a shower. I run the water hot and put plenty of bubble bath in it and then I get in and lay back and close my eyes.

I finally get out of the bath when the water starts feeling cool and I realize how long I’ve been in when I see the prune like wrinkles on my fingertips. I finish getting ready and then I make and eat a ham sandwich and then I head off for work.

The first thing I see as I approach my desk is a note off Cullen. I pick it up and read it and I smile to myself.

“Come to my office immediately when you get in.”

That’s what the note says and my clit tingles with anticipation. If Cullen had a work task for me, he would have written it on the note or emailed me. This isn’t a work summons; this is more personal than that and I have a feeling that I might be going to get “punished” for being late. I am more than down for that. In fact, it would be a good way to get me to take half days more often and if that means I’m taking advantage of being the boss’s girlfriend, well I’m ok with that.

Grinning, I pop the note back on my desk and head to Cullen’s office. I tap on the door, simply because I don’t know if anyone is in there or not.

“Come in,” Cullen calls.

I open the door and go into his office, closing the door again behind me. He looks at me and he doesn’t smile or greet me, but I suppose that’s all part of the act. It would kind of spoil it if he was all excited and eager to see me. My clit pulses and my pussy is starting to get damp as I stand looking at Cullen. I can feel my nipples stiffening in my bra.

“Take a seat,” Cullen snaps.

I head toward the seat opposite his, but I decide against sitting down. If I’m going to be in trouble for being a bad girl, then I might as well make it for more than one crime. I walk around to where Cullen is sitting and wrap my arms around him from behind.

“Have I been a bad girl?” I say, bending down to whisper in his ear.

I’m shocked when Cullen takes my hands firmly in his and removes them from around his shoulders.

“This is serious Max. Sit down please,” he says.

There is no note of a playful tone in his voice and although he is ordering me around, it doesn’t feel like the way he does it in the bedroom and instead of feeling turned on, I am actually starting to feel a little bit concerned. What have I done wrong? I have no idea, unless offering me a half a day was some sort of test which I clearly failed, but I really don’t think Cullen would play games like that.

I walk around the desk, feeling stupid now as well as concerned. I sit down and force myself to look Cullen in the eye. I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong and if I have then I will own it, but if he thinks I’m going to sit here and be apologetic for thinking he was playing with me then he is going to be very disappointed.

“I don’t …” he starts. He stops and shakes his head. “How could you betray me like that?”

Now I’m completely lost. It doesn’t sound like I’ve fucked something up at work. It sounds almost like he is accusing me of cheating on him or something similar but I haven’t so much as glanced at another man since Cullen and I got together, and I have no idea what he’s talking about.

“I don’t know what you mean,” I say honestly.

“You can drop the innocent act Max,” Cullen says.

“It isn’t an act,” I say. “I genuinely have no idea what you’re talking about. I haven’t betrayed you in any way.”

“Are you really going to make me spell it out for you?” Cullen says.

“I guess so because unless you do, I will still have no idea what we’re talking about here,” I say.
