He's here. He's really here!
"Did you really think you’d get away with this?” Saint says, as he crouches down to talk to the men through the driver’s window. He has two men behind him with guns pointed straight at my kidnappers.
He looks into the back seats, presumably to check I’m still alive and not hurt.
“You’re surrounded on all sides, so I wouldn’t if I were you,” Saint nods, indicating to one of the men reaching into his pocket.
“Holding Isabella to ransom was not a good move,” he continues, shaking his head.
Ransom?
“It’s almost laughable. Your boss obviously doesn’t know me very well. Well, you tell your boss if he ever comes within 500 yards of her again, he can say goodbye to his balls. And so can you.”
He sounds calm, but looking at his eyes I can tell he’s furious.
"Let her out now. Your cooperation determines your fate. I won't say any more than this."
And with that he stands up. Saints men continue to point their guns directly at them.
They all nod and the door is opened on my side. I'm pushed out and I run straight into Saint's arms.
"Oh my princess," he coos, holding me. "I'm so sorry."
"I wasn’t sure if you would come," I cry, overwhelmed and tired.
He pulls me back to look me in the eyes. "I will always come. Always."
He holds me tight again before I hear him say. "Deal with them, Josh. None should die. They are lucky no one was hurt."
With that, he bends to carry me in his arms and takes me to another car.
I’m still crying by the time we get home. I'm so shaken up, I can't halt the tears.
"I'm so sorry," he says, as he settles me on the bed in his bedroom. "This is all because of me. You wouldn't have been in any danger if I wasn't in your life. I should be more careful about who I recruit. It seems one of my men wasn’t being completely honest and was a spy for the Black Jaguar mafia, giving them our secrets and telling them about you."
I sniff, trying to calm my tears.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry Saint. What are you going to do?”
“It’s already dealt with, my Queen,” he replies with a knowing look, the side of his mouth turning upwards into a half smile.
"Please don't leave me," I hear him say softly. I look up at him. "I know I've brought nothing but pain into your life. But I can't live without you. Don't leave, Isabella. I love you and I don't want to stop."
My tears seize as I try to process what he’s just said.
"You love me?"
He nods. "I do. I love you more than I can ever imagine. I know you may not feel the same but—"
I can't help my hysterical laughter. "What? I love you and I'm not going anywhere. I thought you didn't love me."
"I love you, my princess. I knew you were mine the second I saw you."
I lean into him and kiss the man I love and the man who loves me.
