I reached my hands to her face, pulling it closer, and kissed her softly, sliding my tongue in to brush against hers. She kissed me back, our tongues dancing to a rhythm that stirred up a fire in my entire being. She gripped my neck, kissing harder, more desperately. Soon we were just hands and mouths, pushing and pulling, trying to eliminate all the space between us.

“I think that’s quite enough talking for this morning,” she murmured against my lips.

“It is more talking than yesterday.” I swallowed. “I’d say that was progress.”

She leaned in close, her breath tickling my ear. “What, you didn’t enjoy my dirty talk?”

Her fingers pressed harder, and I gasped. “I love your dirty talk.”

She nibbled on my earlobe, sucking it into her mouth.

I groaned.

“Good,” she whispered. “’Cos I’ve got a lot more to say today.”

Fifteen

Rebecca stayed at my apartment all of Sunday. Despite her ambitions, we barely left the bedroom besides using the bathroom and getting something to eat—but I wasn’t going to complain about that.

A part of me was nervous about her leaving, as though closing the door on her would also end whatever this weekend was. But I didn’t have a choice. Sadly, Monday was fast approaching. Rebecca had work, I had a lot of errands to sort for Lily, and Mum was also planning on dropping Sausage back at my apartment this evening.

“What are you gonna say to your mum?” I asked, watching Rebecca lace up her shoes.

She snorted. “She stopped asking me what I get up to years ago.”

A stab of jealousy twisted in my stomach, but I tried to shake it off. “That’s one less thing to worry about then.”

Rebecca straightened and closed the distance between us. She kissed me once, softly, and grinned. “You and your little worry brain. So adorable.”

I narrowed my eyes at her.

“And your ‘I’m angry’ face is even more adorabler.”

“Adorabler isn’t even a word.”

“See. I said you were the smart one.”

“Shut up.”

She checked her watch and sighed. “I should really go. Don’t want to run into your mum.”

“You sure you’re okay with walking back?”

She nodded. “It’s only twenty minutes. The exercise will do me good.”

“You didn’t get enough while you were here?” I raised an eyebrow and nudged her playfully.

She combed a hand through my hair. “A very different kind of exercise. It’ll be good to clear my head a little.”

I hated the way panic spread up my spine. What did that mean?

We stood beside the door, just watching each other. Maybe I was crazy, but I didn’t think Rebecca wanted to leave either.

She sighed and stretched. “Okay, Grant. I’ll text you later. Have fun with your mum.”

“Have fun at work.”

“I’ll try my best.” She leaned in and kissed me, and everything else flew out of my brain. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get used to that. She tried to pull away, but I gripped her shirt, deepening the kiss and bringing us closer together. A low moan escaped her lips, spiking arousal between my legs. I loved gaining that reaction from her; it only spurred me on more.
