I thrust into her once more before letting myself accept the overwhelming feeling of her. My name is on her lips as she joins me, and we cum together, both gasping for breath and sweating after we made love for longer than I ever have before.
There was something special about tonight; from the moment her lips first found mine to us both finding our last release together, it has been perfect. I have been in love with this woman for at least six months, but tonight, I could have wept with the overpowering feeling of that love. I enjoy any time I spend with this amazing woman, but tonight, we came together in a whole new way, and it was perfect.
I roll onto my side and pull her against me as I hold her tight.
“That was more than four,” Verity giggles against my side.
“I am more than happy to try and beat that record another time, maybe not just now, though,” I laugh, kissing her head as she giggles again.
“Can I sleep here tonight?” she asks.
“You never need to ask to sleep in my bed. You know that, Sweetheart. What is mine is yours.”
“I know,” she whispers, and for the first time, I’m starting to think she believes me.
“Close your eyes, Sweetheart, and get some rest. I’ll be back in a moment; I need to lock up.” I press a kiss to her head and slide out from underneath her as she closes her eyes and quickly falls asleep.
I make my way around the cabin, checking the windows and doors, even though I know my brothers would have as well. It’s gone eleven, and they are both in bed. Time doesn’t exist for us here. I wake up at four every morning, sneak out to meet Logan, and use his laptop. I’m back before the sun's up, and here I stay until four the following day. No one else leaves other than the odd walk around the perimeter to get some fresh air. But we haven’t been able to get Verity past the back door. She’s terrified, and I hate it.
As I re-lock the front door and turn to leave, I feel something cold underneath my bare foot. Looking down, I see an envelope with my name on it. I recognise the writing instantly as Logans and open it.
Something I thought you might be able to make more sense of than me.
I read through the information on the page twice before I truly understand what I’m seeing. By the time I return to the bedroom, it all makes sense, and I know I can use this to my advantage.
For the next half an hour, I sit in bed with Verity’s head on my lap while scribbling on a writing pad I had brought. Her soft breathing keeps me focused, and I pour everything onto the page. When I’m finished, I slide out from underneath her and fold up the paper before placing a gift for her on top of it.
I watch her sleeping soundly for a moment, taking in every feature on her face. Tucking her doll into her arms, I kiss her head. Before walking to the door with a bag, I kept packed in my hand.
I take one last look at my girl sleeping soundly in the bed before slowly closing the door behind me as I sneak through the cabin, praying that I showed her tonight how much I love her and that she forgives me for breaking my promise as I leave.

A high-pitched scream wakes me with a jump. I don’t have time to register what time it is as I scramble out of the thick blankets and rush for the door. Skidding into the hallway, I catch a glimpse of Ethan as he runs into Travis’s room.
“Baby, calm down,” I hear him beg as I reach the door.
Verity is sitting in the middle of the bed, crying so hard that she is hyperventilating.
“Where the fuck is Travis?” Ethan yells as he tries to pull her into his arms, but she is fighting against him. She curls up into the fetal position and screams into her doll. I rush to the bed and push Ethan out of the way.
“Little Kitten, look at me,” I grab her face and look into her pained eyes as she cries. “I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what happened.”
She tries to speak but is too hysterical; nothing is making any sense.
“I’m going to find Travis,” I hear Ethan snap, which causes Verity to cry harder. I turn around and look at the clock. Next to it is a balled-up piece of paper. I grab it and read the first line.
“Fucking idiot,” I snap as I pull her onto my lap, and the realisation hits.
“What?”
“He’s left,” I yell as Verity cries in my arms, her whole body shaking violently. No wonder she is in such a mess; he’s done the one thing he promised over and over again he wouldn’t.
“Go see if you can work out when. He might still be close,” I snap as Ethan rushes for the door.
“It’s okay, Kitten, we’ll get him back. We’ll find him before he can do anything stupid,” I whisper into her hair as I rock her gently, trying to console her but knowing I’m fighting a losing battle. This is worse than when her dad left because part of her expected that. But this, this is ripping her apart at the seams because he was the one who, from day one, promised her repeatedly he would never leave her side. Yet he’s done just that.
