I grab the phone and hold it to my ear as Zoe winks at me. “What is it?”

“Boss, someone broke into Camila’s dorm while she was out.”

Zoe stiffens in my lap, her eyes growing wide.

I hold a finger to my lips as her mouth starts to open.

I blow out a slow breath, needing a moment to process before I ask whoever is calling me what the hell is going on. This shouldn’t have happened.

“What do you mean? Someone is supposed to be watching her dorm at all times. What’s your name?”

“Jeff Ward, sir.” His voice wavers, and I’m sure that he’s seconds away from pissing himself. “Cooper was supposed to be stationed at the door, but when we got back from one of Camila’s classes, he wasn’t here. Logan is hunting him down, and he will be brought to you immediately.”

“Send him to Ruben. I’m on my way down there now. Nobody is to go in or out of that dorm until I get there, are we understood?”

“Yes, sir.”

I hang up and slide the phone into my pocket as Zoe springs up from my lap. Worry shines in her eyes as I stand and grab my car keys from where I tossed them on my desk earlier.

“What happened with Camila? Is she alright?” Zoe follows me to the door. “She wasn’t in there when somebody broke into her dorm, was she? I couldn’t hear everything that was said.”

I shake my head and stop in front of the bookshelf near the doors, opening up a small panel and taking out a gun. “She wasn’t there when it happened. She’s fine.”

I check the Glock before I holster it. “I’m going to get the keys to the emergency apartment I keep, and she’s going to move in there. I told her that the dorms were a bad idea when she said she wanted to move in there.”

“Christian, you can’t go in there with guns ablazin’ and not expect the cops to show up.” Zoe puts her hands on her hips and watches as I take the apartment key out of the secret compartment. “It’s a school. If they see you with a gun, then there’s going to be a big problem.”

I sigh and put the gun back.

She’s right and I know it.

Camila’s university has metal detectors all over the place.

Fine. My men have guns they smuggled in if I need one.

“You need to stay here,” I say as I close the compartment and lock it. “Your security team will be here if anything happens.”

Zoe crosses her arms. “Like hell. I’m going to go put on some clothes and then I’m coming with you. I want to make sure that she’s alright.”

The corner of my mouth twitches as I hold back a smile.

Whether Zoe knows it or not, she is more suited to this life than she thinks. She’s not hesitant about rushing into what could be a dangerous situation if someone she cares about is involved.

“Zoe, I don’t want to have to worry about you too.”

Her eyes narrow as she looks up at me before heading for her room. “Wait for me. I’m going to get changed and then I’m going to come with you to make sure that she’s alright. She’s my sister too, Christian.”

With that statement, I know that there is no refusing her. Not when she considers my sister hers. If I try to stop her, there is a look in her eyes that tells me she will find her own way there.

“Fine.” I smile as I shake my head. “Be quick about it, though. We need to get to the dorms as soon as possible.”

Zoe takes off as I head into the garage and get one of the cars started.

Zoe appears a moment later, pulling her shirt over her head as she hurries to the car.

As soon as she slides in, we take off.

Camila is sitting on the floor outside her dorm when we get there. She looks furious as she gets to her feet and walks over to me.
