Page 40 of Keeping Eveline

He pushed away from his desk, his attention never straying from her. There was a hint of amusement in his blue eyes.

Any messages from her brain to her feet to move didn’t make it, and she remained glued to her spot in the doorway.

“You think I can’t carry a few bags?” he enquired quietly.

This close, the aroma from his body wash teased her, tempting her lean forward to inhale more deeply. Until the body wash Eveline had ordered arrived, she’d used his and had enjoyed smelling the fresh pine scent from his on her skin.

Caught up in the moment, she gripped his bicep and squeezed. It was as hard as the wooden bookshelves lining his office wall. “Do you think you’re strong enough?”

“Baby, I know I’m strong enough.”

Her throat convulsed, and her pussy clenched at the low, sultry tone of his voice. The sound reminded her of their one shared night. When he’d spoken against her neck, telling her how beautiful she was before he slid into her for the third time that night.

Her panties dampened, and her breath caught in her throat. There wasn’t a lot of space between them. It wouldn’t take much for Eveline to press her lips to Kyle’s.

To taste him again. To feel the way his mouth moved over hers. The kiss they’d shared in the hospital parking lot, like their one night together, was never far from her mind.

“Evie,” Kyle whispered.

“Kyle,” she responded and then because she was throwing caution to the wind and it would either take flight or plummet to the ground, she took a chance. “Kiss me.”

His sharp intake of breath was the only sign that she’d shocked him.

A second later, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her flush against him, and Eveline didn’t have a chance to gasp out at the contact when his mouth was pressing against hers.

Finally.

She wrapped her arms around him and melted against him, needing this kiss as much as she needed air to breathe. His mouth on hers was as good as—no it was better—than their past kisses.

His lips tempted hers to open beneath his, and she gave into the temptation. Kyle’s tongue touched hers, and she moaned.

Her need for him threatened to take over her body. Her hands roamed his back until she found the band of his jeans. Grabbing the fabric of his shirt, Eveline pulled until it was free of his pants.

Now she had access to his warm skin. Beneath her touch, his back muscles tensed, reminding her of the way her fingers had dug into his flesh when he’d been pumping in and out of her.

Kyle kissed along her jawline, down her neck until he found that sweet spot in the little dip of her shoulder.

A tremor coursed through her, and she let her head drop to give him better access.

“God, you feel so good, baby,” he said between nips on her skin.

Forget shopping, Eveline wanted him to scoop her up and take this to his bedroom, where they could lose their clothes and become united in the age-old act between a man and a woman.

The loud shrill of a phone penetrated her sensual haze. “Ignore it,” she muttered as Kyle pulled away.

“Can’t.” He gave her neck one more nibble before she was standing by herself, and he strode back to this desk.

How the hell had he been able to do that?

How had he been able to turn off the desire and focus back on his job?

No way had she missed the way his erection had strained against his zipper and pressed into her. He’d been as far gone into their kiss as she had.

A combination of annoyance and desire melded together, leaving her angry and turned on at the same time.

What was Eveline supposed to do now?

Thank fuck the phone rang.
