Page 9 of His Sacrifice

Serafina lunged at him with her knife, but I beat her to it. My fist connected with his face, the force sending him down the hall. I grabbed Sera, relieved her of the knife, and tossed her over my shoulder. Slipping the knife into my pocket, I headed for the door. I needed to get out of here before we started a goddamn war.

She pounded her fists against my back. “Put me down, you asshole.”

I bounced her up off my shoulder and she struggled to catch her breath when she came back down. We passed a few caterers and security on the way, but made it to the front door without interference. Once someone found Tony, it would be a different story.

“I told you to stay by my side. You were told to behave.”

“I am not a fucking child.”

I sent a quick text and once my phone was back in my pocket, my hand came down hard on her ass.

“Fuck off, Enzo.”

“That’s the problem. You are still a child, and until you stop acting like one, I will treat you like one. Are you trying to start a war? Dante will call for your head.” Tony’s wound hadn’t been deep or fatal, from what I could tell, so we’d be dealing with that.

Aldo brought the car around and I shoved her into the back seat.

“Lorenzo—”

I leaned in and clutched her chin. “Not a fucking word.”

“Or what?” She stared at me, defiant, anger blazing in her eyes.

I smirked. “I’m sure I have a cane lying around with your name on it.”

She gulped and tried to back away, but I held her in place.

“I said, behave.” I released her and she tried to scoot away, but my fingers dug into her thigh. I growled, not missing that she pinched her legs together. Was this affecting her the same as it was me? She’d annoyed me as a child, but as an adult, she was driving me mad.

We rode in silence for the journey home, Sera shaking under my grip the whole way.

Aldo pulled the car to the front entrance of the house, but I didn’t wait for him to open the door. I held my hand out for Serafina, glaring at her when she didn’t automatically take it. “Do you really want to make things worse?” She reluctantly took it and I pulled her to me. “Go wait for me in the study.”

She stood still for a moment, trying to figure out if I was serious before hurrying past me. I swatted her ass as she did and my cock twitched when she jumped and yelped.

Aldo stepped up next to me. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there, sir.”

“You’re not her babysitter.”

“Yes, but I’m supposed to protect both of you.”

I clamped my hand on his shoulder. “Tony did what Tony does, she just got caught in the middle. Not sure why she took a knife to a party where weapons are left at the door.”

“Do you think your father’s really considering him?”

“The rest of the families would burn down the city, but we might not have a choice now. The Moreno family will want retribution.” This was supposed to be strategic, and now it was all fucked up.

“Things are working fine the way they are. It’s a shame it has to change.”

I didn't disagree with him. All hell had broken out when the Rosetta family was attacked. The only survivors were Serafina and her mom. Our family worked hard to put things back together, but shifts in power were always problematic. If the Moreno family got the foothold they needed, it would mean war. Moreno had gotten away with murder, and now he wanted his prize.

Nodding at Aldo, I headed into the house, wondering if Sera had done what she was told. I stopped in the doorway and watched as she paced, wringing her hands. A smile formed as I saw the fear and anxiety of not knowing what was coming. We didn’t have much time. The Morenos would come for payback. I needed to call my father, but I wanted to deal with this hellcat first. She needed to learn her actions had consequences.

I took a deep breath and adjusted my half-hard cock. At least the talk about Moreno had gotten my mind off her in the fucking red dress she wore. She jumped when I closed the door shut behind me, her eyes flying wide when they met mine.

"Enzo, he was lying. I would never." She sniffled, but her cheeks were dry. It looked like she’d cleaned up the blood on her hands. I unfastened my belt and slowly slid it out of my pants. Her body shook. "He grabbed me." She flashed her arm where his fingers had left bruises.

"You're always begging for attention." I stepped toward her, and she retreated another few steps, her gaze moving between mine and the belt. She backed up to my desk, and I pinned her so she couldn't move. She was always so well put together, and it took a lot to rattle her. I was loving this.
