For her, it was a touch thrilling and daring. And yes, that’s how boring her life was before. Before that day, before the warehouse

Her eyes moved to the closed door as she saw his shadow pass under the door. Yes, life was boring before him.

Noah.

He would never be sophisticated or debonair. He would always be wild and rough, and why did that please her?

Turning the shower on, she tried to ignore the fact that he was possibly doing the same thing. His body would be warm, soapy, wet, and her hands would glide over him with ease.

Squeezing her eyes shut, she shook her head, desperate to rid herself of the impossibly heated image.

The heavy feel of his erection, when they danced, had given her an idea of what he would feel like. Thick, long, and firm. She had spent nights pressed up against him in the warehouse too.

Before she could pretend his size was a result of those nights hallucinating and half-delirious, but she couldn’t pretend now. Not with the solid feel of him imprinted on her mind.

Rinsing and turning the shower off, she stepped out and grabbed a fluffy white towel.

They had been kind enough to give her a welcome pack when they heard she would be staying and when she looked at the products, she had been surprised because the scents were ones she liked and would have chosen for herself.

She had almost expected a basket full of lavender or rose-scented products, popular but not to her liking.

Adrienne grabbed the vanilla oil and massaged it into her limbs knowing she was doing it for Noah.

Swallowing a sudden lump in her throat, she slid on black silk underwear, plugged in the hairdryer, and brushed her hair until the strands lay flat and straight.

She slipped the dress over her head and bit her lip as her nipples brushed the material.

Picking up her flat black shoes, she pushed her feet into them and added a touch of colour to her cheeks, to disguise her blushes.

She picked out the bare minimum in makeup. The colours she picked were nudes and subtle pinks.

Adrienne had spent too much time getting ready and felt foolish for it.

Straightening her back and standing tall, she left the room with her chin tilted up and her heart racing despite her outward projection of calm, only to stop dead in the living area.

Noah had brushed his hair out into glorious glossy waves, the array of colours catching the light like a kaleidoscope.

He was wearing a smart off-white shirt, dark grey linen shorts that were smartly pressed with a line down the front, and a clip-on grey bow tie. Pale grey beach shoes completed the look.

“You look edible,” he said. She blinked at him, and he cleared his throat. “I mean, you look beautiful.”

“So do you,” she blurted. His lips twitched and she groaned. “I mean, you look handsome.”

He laughed and the tension that had filled the air dissipated.

She laughed but swallowed it as he held up a bouquet of fresh flowers.

The sweet peas and pink lily blooms were pretty. “I’ll just put them in water.”

When they stepped out, Noah had a Jeep waiting for them with a driver.

“I’ve been taking lessons,” Noah said. He didn’t look particularly happy about it. Glowering at the vehicle, he said, “I don’t like it so Finley said he would drive us.”

The slightly smaller Number had an easy friendly smile.

“Thank you,” Adrienne said as she climbed into the back.

“No problem. I’m one of the drivers at Moon. It was no hassle to pick you up. I had a delivery out this way,” he explained.
