Ignoring her, I let go of her hand, then kicked in all five stall doors to make sure that we were alone. Once I was satisfied that we were, I locked the door, giving us some privacy. Yeah, the boys’ restroom was far from the ideal place to talk, but it was this or drag her by her hair to my place, and she didn’t look like she could withstand that kind of fight right now, and that really bothered me. I loved it when Jett fought back because I knew that I was the only person that ever got to see her that way.

“What’s wrong with you?” I demanded as I set our stuff on the sink counter. “Why are you moving like you’re in pain?”

Jett looked like she wanted to tell me to go to hell, but she didn’t. She knew enough to know that I’d keep her locked in this goddamn restroom for the rest of the day if she didn’t answer me. That was one of the perks of being a Carver; I never got in trouble for shit.

“I fell down the steps last night,” she answered.

“You fell down the steps?” I echoed, not believing her.

Jett’s eyes narrowed at me. “For some reason, I was feeling more tired than usual last night, so when I went to get some water, I wasn’t…I was tired, Chasin. My bedroom is on the second floor, and I slipped at the top of the stairs, then hit every step on my way down.”

I had her face in my hands before I knew it, cold dread seeping into my bones. “Baby-”

“I’m fine,” she lied, jerking her face from my hold, stepping back a bit. “I’m sore, but…” She shrugged. “That could be from any number of things yesterday.”

This fucking girl.

“Don’t act like you didn’t love every single fucking second of it,” I said coolly. “You couldn’t stop cumming on my dick.”

“That’s not what I said,” she replied, a slight tick in her jaw. “I was just stating the obvious.”

Ignoring that, I asked, “What are you doing at school? Why aren’t you home resting?”

“Because I don’t need to rest, Chasin,” she argued. “I fell down the steps and got banged up a little. It’s not like a limb got amputated.”

“Jesus fucking Christ,” I snapped as I ran my hands through my hair. “Why does everything have to be a fucking battle with you?”

“If you leave me alone, then that solves that problem for you, doesn’t it?” she sassed, and I wasn’t sure if I wasn’t going to really kill her one day.

“I am never leaving you alone,” I told her. “Better get used to that fact, Jett.”

I watched her entire frame slump with the weight of this thing between us. Some people might call our relationship toxic, but those people could fuck off. As long as I had this girl with me, I didn’t care how perfect or how unhealthy our relationship was. I’d rather let this slip of a girl drive me insane than fake it with someone else. Even though I couldn’t tell her just yet, I loved this fucking female, and I couldn’t remember a day in my life when I’d hadn’t. So, yeah, if Jett Morgan wanted to make my life a living hell, then I’d live it with a smile on my face. She had no idea what she did to me, and it was a shame that she was going to have to learn it the hard way.

“Can we just not today?” she asked, waving the white flag somewhat. “I’m tired, Chasin.”

“Go home, Jett,” I ordered. “You don’t need to be here.”

“If I go home, then I’ll just lay in bed, doing nothing,” she replied. “I’d rather be here where my body is moving, working out the soreness.”

I hated that she made sense. “Then I’ll walk you to-”

“Please, Chasin,” she sighed. “Just…stop. Just for today, back off.”

That sounded too much like she was breaking up with me for my liking. “Not happening.”

“Chasin-”

“What are you going to give me if I let you do your own thing today?” I asked, ‘blackmailing’ her again.

“God, you’re such a bastard,” she stated evenly, shaking her head disappointedly.

I stepped to her. “What are you going to give me?” I repeated, ignoring the truth of my character.

“What do you want?”

“You,” I answered. “The answer is always you. The answer will always be you.”
