“He isn’t just some guy,” she grits out through clenched teeth, without thinking I reach over and place my hand on the top of her thigh, I feel her begin to relax under my touch and that notion fills me with a sense of pride that I am able to calm her.
“Who the fuck is the cunt? I’m gonna fucking kill him.” He doesn’t give her a chance to answer. “Chaos, Chanel, we leave first thing in the morning,” he shouts.
“Pretty hard to kill him when he’s already dead.” The bitterness that laces her tone has me feeling anger toward her father for upsetting her.
“What?” Royal barks clearly confused.
“He isn’t just some guy, Dad. I’m not stupid contrary to what you think.”
“Who the fuck is the guy then?”
“Havoc,” she snaps before ending the call and dropping her phone on her lap, she turns and stares out the window ignoring the incessant ringing of her phone. I’ll give Royal that, he is fucking persistent. When her phone stops ringing and mine begins, she snaps her head toward the stereo and sees her father’s name come up on the screen. Before I can stop her the little shit hits answer on the steering wheel.
“The gates to that school are supposed to be fucking locked but yet my daughter somehow managed to get out?—”
“Why the hell are you calling Artemis?” London snaps. There’s a pause on the other end of the phone and I can only imagine the thoughts running through his mind at his daughter answering my phone.
“What the fuck are you doing with him?” Royal snaps.
“Well, creating you a grandchild of course, Daddy.” I choke on my own fucking spit while he shouts out curses and screaming for his wife.
“Give me the fucking phone,” I hear a woman demand. “Karma, what did you do this time?” The smirk on my girl's face tells me all I need to know, it’s Chanel not her mother.
“Aunt Nelly, I missed you.”
The woman snorts. “You have like a minute to get your side in before your mother gets here and your father goes on a rampage.”
London sighs. “I got a tattoo.”
Chanel whistles. “Yep, that’ll do it. R.I.P to you kid. I’ll make sure to pick out a nice casket and outfit to bury you in.” Before London can respond she speaks again, “Here’s your mom, good luck.”
“Baby girl.” Comes through the speaker next, London deflates beside me.
“Hi, Mom.”
“Why is your father threatening to murder the new headmaster of your school?” London glances at me and smirks. I shake my head and tell her with a look not to be a brat but of course she ignores me.
“He isn’t happy that I got a tattoo and decided to try to give him a grandchild, can you believe that? All I was trying to do is make him happy and then he goes off and has a tantrum, the nerve of that man, right?” I shake my head, this girl is a fucking quack!
“Jesus, you really are going to give your father a heart attack! You know he can’t deal with the fact you are growing up and drawing the attention of boys.” I grip the steering wheel in a vice-like grip. “Why the hell do you think he hired female guards for you?”
“Not my fault he doesn’t trust me,” she snaps back.
“It isn’t you he doesn’t trust.”
“Bullshit, he thinks I spread my legs for the team.” Erika snorts but the sound of shit breaking in the background makes it obvious that Royal heard that.
“He told me you got Hav’s face tattooed?” The love in her mother’s tone is strong, it’s clear Erika thought the world of Havoc.
“Yeah. I did.”
“That’s beautiful, baby. You know he loved you more than anything in this world, right?” London’s eyes fall closed and she takes a deep breath.
“Yeah. Mom?”
“Yeah, baby girl?”
“I’m not a virgin anymore.” Oh sweet fucking Christ. Before a reply can come through the speakers, a car rams into the side of us, London screams as the car begins to roll, I try to reach for her but the airbag deploys at the same time and everything goes black.
