Havoc died that day because of me!
I killed my favorite person.
I’m not beauty, my soul is black and tainted because of the life I took, the life I stole. My cousin will never know his father because I fucked up thinking I was stronger than what I am. I cost Havoc everything. Uncle Chaos has every right to hate me, I fucked everything up.
I killed Havoc.
The ace of Diamond is no more, the Memento Mori lost their back bone. I ruined it, I made him leave just like everyone who ever cares about me leaves. It’s only a matter of time for my family to figure out what my birth parents did, I’m not worth shit and unworthy of love.
Artemis
Before she can hit the ground, I dart forward and catch her, panic is thrumming through me. Her eyes are open but unfocused as if she has gone into a trance-like state. I jolt in shock when a scream filled with so much pain tears its way out of her. I try to cover her mouth with my hand to quiet her down, when that fails I even try to kiss her but the sound continues. I can hear footsteps pounding the ground from the north and carefully lay her on the ground hating that I have to leave her unprotected for a minute as I dart behind a tree and draw my gun ready to take out any fucker who tries to touch her. I flip the safety off when I hear them closing in. London’s scream dies off as they burst into the small, wooded area where she lays motionless and I dart out from behind the tree.
“Ares, Apollo, Adonis, you’re alive,” I breathe out as I rush the three of them pulling them all in for an awkward hug. They shove me back and mutter about me being a pussy.
“Of course we are,” Adonis smugly says.
“They can't take us down,” Ares inserts.
“They nearly did, you dumbasses,” I snap.
“What?” Apollo asks as he looks to the other two.
“London and I have been taking them down. I don’t have time to explain. We need to get the fuck back to Costa now before the time is up and he does something to Cronos.”
“He has Nos?” Ares asks in shock.
I narrow my eyes. “Since when do you call him Nos?” He purses his lips and shrugs.
“It kind of suits him.” I scoff and turn my back to them, scoop London into my arms and peer down at her. Her eyes are open and unfocused still, did she have a mental breakdown?
“What happened to her?” Apollo asks.
“I don’t know, just keep moving and don’t stop,” I bark as I begin to lead the way back down the mountain, suddenly feeling like I can take a deep breath for the first time since this trial started knowing they are alive.
“Why are there guys out here hunting us?” Adonis asks.
I shift London in my arms as I answer him. “You knew that each of you would be hunted but Costa upped the stakes and positioned men out here to take the four of you out. They’re on our tail as we speak so stay sharp and shut the fuck up.” We continue on in silence, every few minutes one of them will branch off to scout around us and make sure the path is clear before rejoining us. It has pride swelling inside me that these three, although they act like idiots most of the time, did pay attention to everything I have taught them. They managed to evade their hunters and find each other out here, that was something Cronos and I couldn’t even do.
“There,” Apollo says, pointing toward a worn trail at the base of the mountain. I come to a stop and turn to face the three of them. Each of them looks confused but say nothing as I pass London to Ares who takes her without complaint.
“You follow that trail back?—”
Adonis cuts me off. “Where the fuck are you going?”
“I can’t exit with the four of you. Take her back and make sure Cronos looks after her.”
“Where are you going?” Ares asks, the worry in his tone guts me.
“I’ll be right behind you, do not fight what will happen. You three get in the car with Cronos and London. Do not come back for me no matter what.”
“What the fuck!”
“Fuck you.”
“We’re not leaving you!” The three of them shout in unison. London steals my attention when she begins to stir in Ares’s hold. Her head lulls to the side and when her gaze finally focuses on me she frowns, then looks around and when her gaze locks on Ares who smirks and wiggles his brows, she thrashes in his arms leaving him no choice but to release her. She lands in a crouch before quickly pushing back to her feet.
“What the fuck happened? Did you drug me again?” she shouts at me. I raise my hands as if surrendering and shake my head.
