I was too far away to hear their conversation, but as they moved and the men approached the entrance and exit doors, I realized they might have discovered something that wasn't in my favor.
I went back to the kitchen and placed the tray on the table to exchange for another just as some men entered the room.
“We want to see your documents.”
I pretended they weren't talking to me. If I ran away, it would only prove who the suspect they were looking for was.
“Did you hear what I said?” He held my wrist.
“Let me go!” I roared back.
“Where are your documents?”
“I'll get them.” I lowered my hand towards my pocket, making a subtle movement for him to release me.
“That accent of yours...” he mumbled thoughtfully.
As soon as I put my fingers in my pants pocket, he pulled my hand again.
“Are you Russian?!”
“I am not.”
“Are you lying to me?” He grabbed me hard enough to rip the sleeve of my shirt, revealing the tattoo I had on my forearm. A snake surrounding a knife.
Damn it!
I dodged a blow that was going to hit my face and dodged downwards, hitting the man with an elbow in the pit of the stomach that made him stagger back and fall on top of a table full of champagne glasses that immediately broke with the impact.
Another man came at me, and I moved my body to the side, causing his cross to cut the air. I retaliated, hitting him in the jaw and grabbed a metal tray to defend myself from a punch that would have hit my arm.
The people inside the kitchen, including the supervisor, were cowering in fright as they watched the fight.
They tried to break a bottle of champagne on me, and I used the tray again to defend myself. I got rid of the impact and the shards, but the liquid splashed all over my clothes.
Ten other men entered the room, and I walked backwards while dodging blows and kicks. I pulled one of their legs and threw the other onto the still-lit stove, making him scream with the burning pain. I needed to dodge some blows and be careful with knives, pans and other utensils that they were trying to use against me.
I jumped back when I heard the knife whistle as it passed millimeters from my stomach. If I hadn't been quick enough, it would have hit me.
I crouched down and a punch hit the kitchen door, which led to the back of the place. I opened it and moved quickly toleave the place, but one of the soldiers tried to hold me back. He howled in pain when I hit his arm with it.
I held on tight, resting my shoulder on the wood as they tried to get inside. They weren't stronger than me, but there were many of them and they were trying incredibly hard to get through.
I looked around as I felt fatigued, and my body showed signs that it couldn't last much longer. I saw a pipe that climbed a wall to the terrace of one of the buildings next door, and ran towards it, letting the men in.
I started climbing and some of them came after me. I felt a hand grab my ankle and I kicked with the other leg until it let go. I climbed as quickly as possible, but I didn't come alone. It took a moment for another person to come up.
I lifted the hem of my pants and took out a plastic knife that I had hidden there to pass the metal detector inspection that they carried out on the employees at the beginning of the party.
One of the men laughed when he saw the blade in my hand and I advanced towards him, dodging his blows and hitting his throat with the blade, much sharper than it looked. I kicked him in the stomach, and he fell back, taking another with him and I just heard the sound of them falling to the ground.
I heard a sound, as someone tried to shoot at me, but fortunately, the aim wasn't the best and it only hit close to my foot. I turned and started running, the shots kept ricocheting off the ground near me until I reached the edge of the terrace. I looked at the other and took a boost before jumping.
I didn't calculate very well, and I saw that my body was falling instead of going forward, but I bent as much as possibleand managed to grab the side of the other building. I supported my weight with my hands and stood up.
I screamed when a bullet hit my arm, but fortunately it had only grazed me.
I continued running and the men tried to come after me but stopped when the first one fell and crashed below. They surrendered to the shots, but it became increasingly difficult to hit me with distance.
