Draven curses and I laugh, but it’s not with humor. I hate him right now. I technically could meet with Damien and Camden, but I don’t fucking want to. I’m going to use that time to pay my baby girl a visit, without interruptions. I won’t have very long, but I’ve waited enough. And if he shows up before I leave? Even better. I kind of want him to know I’m not giving up. That there’s nothing he can do about it either.

“The fuck you will.” He growls, and Angel jumps.

“You seem a bit tense, Angel.” I taunt. She doesn’t even look at me. The entire time we’ve been here sitting next to each other she’s looked at me only once, and it’s bothering me, eating at me. It’s like I don’t exist, or I’m not worth her time. Well, she definitely isn’t worth mine, but here I am, obsessed and shit. I hate it. “Someone get mywifea drink, she needs to relax.”

“You do need to relax, baby.” Draven murmurs and I tense, ready to snap his skinny fucking neck. “I’ll be right back.”

Draven gets up and walks toward the house—at least a three minute walk one way—and leaves her sitting next to me. The other guys don’t even look at us, now chatting about the cartel and the guns and the coke. I have no interest in any of that shit. No, I’m worried about the girl sitting next to me who won’t give me the time of day. I just want a little attention from her, and I’m going to get it one way or another.

“So you’re not gonna talk to me now?” I ask her softly, keeping my voice low.

“Nope.”

I chuckle, loving the chase and hating it all the same. “Aren’t you curious about what’s going on between us, little demon?” I look at her perfect profile. Straight, small nose. Pouty lips. High cheekbones. Long, blonde lashes. She’sperfect. I’ve never had a thing for blondes, but this one? She’s really doing it for me. “I know you feel it too.”

Her breath whooshes out, and at this she looks at me, her face pink. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Come on, baby girl. Stop lying to yourself. You think about me when he’s sleeping, you fucking want me too.” She searches my eyes as if she’s looking for truths in them. Well she’s in luck, I’m giving them all away. “How many times has he made you come and I was the one on your mind?”

She looks away, saying with finality, “None.”

I reach out to touch her hand, reaching over my seat, leaning into her. A shock goes through me when our skin meets, and her head snaps to the side, her eyes meeting mine. “Don’t you miss me on top of you?” I whisper, getting closer until my mouth is against the shell of her ear. My lips brush against her soft skin and she shivers. “Don’t you wish I could show you what I can offer you? And it’s not just sex.” I lick the shell of her ear and then bite her earlobe. Her teeth clamp down on her bottom lip and my cock grows painfully, restrained by my jeans. “I’d give you everything. Every part of me. I’d give you what he won’t.”

“Oh?” She turns her head and looks at me, her lips brushing against mine, her forehead pressed to my own. “And what’s that?”

Our breaths mingle, our lips brush, our eyes stare into each other’s. “All of my truths.”

She’s quiet for a beat, looking at my lips then back up to my eyes. Then she pulls away, shoving my hand off her chair. “I don’t think you know how to tell the truth.”

“You don’t know me at all. Draven is the one you need to worry about.” I know how to take a hint, rejection even, and return to my chair. “You’d do well to remember that.”

Draven comes back with a drink in his hand and a joint between his fingers, and Angel gets up from the chair to return to her place on his lap. “Give me.” She tells him with a smile that I wish was directed at me. Heat rushes through my body at his smirk, the one that says he knows where this is going later. Well, not if I have anything to fucking do with it. “I want some.”

“Angel.” He shakes his head, white blond hair spilling over his forehead just as my own does sometimes. I just want to run my fingers through it, yank it back when I’m fucking him. My blood heats as I look at him, and when we make eye contact he slightly flinches. I know he can see it in my eyes, in my face—my thoughts. The way I want to take him here right in front of everyone without a care in the world. He looks away from me, looks at her, and my fists clench. “You don’t even know how to smoke this.”

“So teach me.”

“You shouldn’t do this.” She shouldn’t. At least he has some common fucking sense. Well, I take that back now, because he’s putting the joint between her lips. “Okay, don’t bite it, now. Suck on it and inhale.”

She does.

Except it’s like she takes three hits with the way she keeps inhaling deeply.

“Stop, stop, baby.” He chuckles. “Now let it all out.”

Angel begins to cough violently, the smoke escaping through her nose and lips, and she turns red as she doubles over. I roll my eyes at his poor instructions, but I keep my mouth shut for once. He hands her the shot glass in his hand and she drinks it, sputtering a bit when she’s done. The guys all laugh at her, and a smile quirks up my lips, but again I stay quiet. Maybe this will serve me later. She looks more relaxed, more pliable. Maybe I can get her alone soon.

“Time for official business.” I announce, looking at Drav pointedly, hinting to get her the fuck out of here. “Menonly.” I clarify, just in case his dumbass isn’t getting the hint.

Angel doesn’t even look at me as she gets up and starts walking away, and a prickle of anger makes my hands itch as if there’s ants biting them. I don’t want to kick her out, but this really is official business. There’s nothing about this she needs to be hearing. But the way she gives me her back without a glance at me makes me want to put her over my knee and spank her ass raw.

“I’ll walk you in,” Draven offers. “You’ve never been in this house.”

“I’ll figure it out,” she replies, swaying on her feet. Obviously the marijuana was going to hit her hard considering the long hit she took and it being her first time. He’s fucking stupid for letting her have some. Maybe she’ll get lost on the way in and drown in the pond instead. Sure as fuck would solve all my problems if she was out of my life. No one to obsess over. “It’s just a house.”

Draven stays in his seat as she walks away, and when I see she’s going the right way and not into the pond I’m momentarily disappointed. I shake my head, trying to get my head in the game, and look at the boys.

“Amalia has disappeared.” Seth and I look at each other because it’s his sister. “Someone hasn’t been following orders, and I’d bet anything it’s Samuel.” Seth’s father and my own father’s soulmate. Second in command. Now the thing we need to know is what orders he hasn’t been following, why his daughter has been taken, and where they’re hiding her.
