“We’re going to take you home, get you cleaned up and bandaged, then feed you until you fall asleep in a food coma.” Leslie smiled at me.

“Here you go.” Anders leaned in the door and tucked a soft, fuzzy blanket around me. “Don’t want you to get hypothermia.” He winked and got in the driver’s seat while Leslie went to the passenger’s side.

What is going on?!

The drive to their house was short, and I listened as they chatted together about the run. Leslie turned in his seat to see me and smiled.

“I’m sure you might feel overwhelmed, but we promise to be gentle.”

My head bobbed in agreement.

I don’t know how to act. I’m not used to anyone being nice to me, other than Charity and Flynn.

When we pulled up to a brick ranch-style house, it reminded me of the house I grew up in. Most of the houses in the neighborhood looked the same.

“You can see Sebastian’s house from our backdoor.” Leslie beamed with pride. “He lives in the house behind us.”

“Do you have any other children?” My eyes scanned the yard, and I felt fear creep in again.

“Sebastian is our only.” Anders reached up and pushed a button, opening the garage. “You’ll be safe here.” His eyes looked into mine from the rearview mirror.

My shoulders lifted in a shrug and I shivered as the possibility of retaliation hit me. “What happens if Simon shows up here?”

“I may be older, but I can still whoop ass,” Anders laughed, pulling into the garage. “Let’s get you inside, and soaking in a nice warm bath. And you let me worry about the Grimclaw pack.”

Sebastian

I knew my dads would take good care of Nolan, but I wanted to be the one who did that. I wanted him near me.

A hand clapped my shoulder, and I turned to see Julius. “You whipped Simon’s ass.”

“He deserves worse.” I snarled. “Did you see the shape my mate is in?”

Julius nodded, then shook his head in disgust. “The way they treat anyone who’s not an alpha in their pack is abhorrent.”

“Agreed.” I snarled. “We need to be vigilant. I’m sure he’ll retaliate.”

Our pack leader walked towards us, a frown set on his face. “What happened out there tonight?

I felt my eyes narrow as I answered. “I found my mate earlier this evening and then I rescued him from the abuse he was taking from Simon Scott and the rest of the Grimclaw pack.”

He licked his lips before pressing them together. “Was it a peaceful rescue?”

Hot breath puffed from my nostrils. “What do you think?”

Dillon stepped up to me. “Watch your tone.”

I felt stuck between a rock and a hard place. He was my pack alpha, but this was about my mate. “With all due respect, sir, the Grimclaw pack can eat shit. Simon had Nolan strapped to a bench, offering him up like a piece of meat for everyone to have fun with.”

Dillon’s throat worked hard to swallow. “Not much makes me sick to my stomach, but that…”

“Yep.”

“Lane called. Said you started a war we’re not ready for.”

I let out a long breath. “He’s wrong.”

A smile spread across Dillon’s face. “I know. Where is Nolan now?”
