Page 63 of He Will Come for Me

“Everyone out.” People scurry out of the room and I try to follow, but he grabs my wrist as I pass him. He stares down at me and I arch a perfectly shaped eyebrow at him.

“You did say everyone.”

“Brat.” I shrug. He’s turned me into this person I don’t like, but I have to keep my walls up or I know he’ll break me in ways I can’t imagine. “I want to take a few pictures before you get in your wedding dress.”

I tilt my head at him.“What kind of pictures?”

He pulls me in front of him, his finger gliding from my wrist up my arm.“The kind that will loosen us up before the wedding. I need you to look like you want this.” His fingers continue their path up my shoulder, to the back of my neck.

“You should have thought about that before today,” I say, trying my best to calm my racing heart. I hate the way my body responds to him.

He gently grips the back of my neck.“You look gorgeous, McKenzie.” I lick my lips and his eyes latch onto them.

“I’m not even finished getting ready.” My voice is breathless as I bring my hands up to hold on to his forearms.

“It doesn’t matter. You’re always the most beautiful woman in the room.” My heart lurches into my throat. Why is he talking to me like this? I want to believe him, but I don’t trust him. “Will you take pictures?” I nod before I can even completely process his question.

How does he get me to drop my guard so quickly? Maybe it’s good he hasn’t been trying to do more over the past month, because just from this small interaction he’s already got me bending to his will. He leans down and runs his lips up my jaw to my ear, goosebumps breaking out along my neck and arms. “Such a good girl.”

I almost moan, but I catch myself. He slowly disentangles us as he walks to the door and motions for the photographer to enter. Under my robe, I’m wearing a white lace strapless bra and a matching white thong. Nothing fancy, but something that makes me feel sexy.

“Mr. Stone, can you take your jacket off?” The photographer asks.

Phoenix nods.“McKenzie, this is Fran. Fran, McKenzie.”

She gives me a bright smile. “Nice to meet you, McKenzie. Thank you for letting me photograph your special day.” I stop myself from scoffing. Either she doesn’t know or she’s a really good actress.

Fran walks over to Phoenix and touches his tie. I narrow my eyes at the interaction. “Can you remove the tie, or will that be too much of a hassle?” Phoenix shakes his head, and she begins to remove it. I lurch forward, placing myself between them. What the hell?

“I can do that.” Fran’s eyes widen, and I swear Phoenix chuckles.

“Of course.” She looks down at her camera adjusting the settings. “Take his tie off and unbutton the top two buttons.” I nod slightly, still irritated with her. I don’t know why. She technically didn’t do anything wrong.

Turning to face Phoenix fully, I look up at him. He’s smirking down at me as I pull his tie free. “Jealous, love?” I hesitate. Jealous? And why is he calling me love? He normally calls me darling, but it’s usually in a taunting way. This was different. Taking in a shaky breath, I release his tie and begin working on his buttons.

“No, but you’re about to marry me. So, she doesn’t need to touch what’s mine.” He wraps his arm around my waist, pulling me close. My fingers trace the outline of one of his tattoos. I can’t seem to stop myself. His knee snakes between my legs as he pulls me tighter against him, causing friction. I gasp and his smirk grows wider.

“Pull her robe down, exposing her arm.” I jump slightly, reminded that Fran is still in here. Phoenix’s hand trails up my back and he grips the collar of my robe, pulling it down until my shoulder is exposed. He leans his head down and runs his lips over it. I want to rock against his knee, but I force myself to remain perfectly still.

“Come on, love. Loosen up.” I allow myself to arch into him, causing a bit of friction. A whimper works its way up my throat. “That’s it.” His lips begin a path up my throat and he stops just below my ear, sucking slightly. I gasp at the sensation, and this time I can’t stop myself from rocking against him.

He hardens against me and his chest rumbles. I’m glad I’m not the only one affected. His hand trails down my arm, over my waist and hip, to my thigh. Gripping my thigh, he pulls it up, causing the robe to fall away, exposing the lacy garter at my thigh. His other hand presses into my lower back, makingme arch slightly and he leans forward, slotting his lips against mine.

I grip his shoulders as his tongue licks the seam of my lip, seeking entry. I open my mouth slightly and he takes advantage of it, his tongue quickly finding mine. “That’s great. I got some good photos.” Fran says. But Phoenix doesn’t stop kissing me, instead he pulls me even tighter against him as the kiss turns heated. There’s a soft click and suddenly I’m being spun and pressed against the wall.

Phoenix lifts my hands above my head and holds my wrists with one hand as his other hand trails down my body and he yanks the tie on my robe open. His eyes rake over my half naked body before he dips down and sucks my covered nipple in his mouth. I cry out as I arch against him.

“Should I make you come now? Or make you wait?” His voice is like gravel. I’m quickly brought back to earth. He is going to make me come at some point today. I close my eyes as his lips caress my collarbone, my shoulder, and throat.

He wraps an arm around me, holding me close, but still not releasing my arms. I slowly open my eyes to stare at him. “I’ll make it good for you,” he promises, and I have to swallow around the lump in my throat.

“I know you will,” I whisper. And I do know that. He proved at the auction he’s not a selfish lover. There is a part of him that wants to protect me. But he also knows this is happening because he’s making it happen. “I probably would have said yes if you had asked me to marry you.”

He releases my arms, rubbing my wrists slightly to make sure I’m okay. He steps back and begins buttoning his shirt again before putting on his tie.

I pull my robe closed and tie it. “But you didn’t even give me the chance. Now, you’ll never know for sure if this is becauseyou are forcing it or because I want it.” He puts his jacket on and walks to the door.

“Get dressed. The ceremony begins in thirty minutes.”
