I huff and roll my eyes. “I mean, I have a small car. How am I going to get all the things I need?” I ask.
He walks over to the kitchen, grabs a piece of paper, and hands it to me. “Here is a list of stores that we do business with. At the bottom are the delivery guys’ numbers. They do deliveries throughout the day, so text them what you need picking up, and they’ll get it here for you.” I do a little happy dance, and he laughs.
“This is like the best day ever!” He wraps his arm around my shoulders, pulls me to him, and kisses me on my forehead.
“I can’t wait to see what you do.” He takes his baseball cap off and runs his hands through his hair. “I gotta go. Victor will be waiting for me.”
“It seems like you and him are getting along okay,” I say as I follow him outside.
He inhales. “Yeah. It seems I was wrong about him. He’s been a huge help and suggested more than once we go into business together.” He kicks a rock off the sidewalk.
“Are you considering it?” I ask him.
He nods. “Yeah. That’s what we’re meeting about today. I will get details from him and talk to you tonight at dinner.” He stops at the door of his truck and gazes down at me.
“Really?”
He tilts his head. “Of course, I will talk to you before I make a big decision like that. You and I are in it for life.” I step closer to him, my heart beating rapidly in my chest.
“So, what time is this meeting?” I ask him. He wraps his arms around me, gripping my ass and pulling me close.
“Why?” He leans down like he’s going to kiss me.
“I was just wondering if we had enough time to fuck in your back seat again.”
He chuckles. “Jesus Christ, Becca.” He grinds his hard cock against me, and I bite my lip. He leans down further. “Later,” he promises before kissing me long and hard. He ends it reluctantly and opens his door.
“I’ll see you later. I’ll bring lunch if you’re here. If not, we can meet somewhere. Okay?” he offers.
“Sounds perfect,” I reply. He gives me another kiss before leaving.
I walk back inside the house and grab the laptop Connor got me. Time to take notes so I can get the stuff I need. Smiling to myself, I get to work.
I stare at all the things the delivery guy just dropped off. Shopping took all day, so I won’t be able to get started until tomorrow. But I feel like I got a lot accomplished.
Locking up, I get in my car and text Connor, letting him know I’ll call him after I leave my grandpa’s grave. I stopped while I was out and got some flowers. My phone buzzes before I pull out of the driveway, so I grab it.
Big Man: Guess what happened today?
Me: What?
Big Man: I found a wooden shoe in a toilet.I stare at my phone in confusion. That is so weird.
Me: Huh? How did that happen?
Big Man: It was clogged.I read the last sentence three times before the joke clicks. I start laughing.
Me: You got me with that one. You’re such a dork! He sends me a laughing gif, and I shake my head as I put my phone away so I can leave.
I don’t plan on staying long when I get to the cemetery. I try to come by every few weeks to ensure he has flowers. After I replace the flowers, I stare at his headstone for a while.
“He loves me, Grandpa. Just like you said he did.” I whisper. With that, I walk away and get in my car. Instead of driving home, though, I head toward the gas station, but this time I don’t stop at the gas station.
I drive past it. My destination this time is the playground Connor said needs a lot of upkeep. I park and look around. The grass is too high; an easy place for snakes and other critters to hide. The equipment itself needs to be removed and replaced. The chains for the swings are all broken, one of the slides is broken in half, and the fence around the playground needs to be redone.
I take a deep breath, proud of myself for doing this. Now I can go home and tell Connor. He probably won’t be happy I did this without him, but I’m sure he’ll understand. I’m about to leave when a black Mercedes Benz pulls up behind me, blocking me in.
I suck in a breath and frantically look around, trying to figure out another way to get out. There’s a concrete block in front of me and then the sidewalk. I’m unsure if I could jump them in my car without ruining it. I grab my phone and pull up Connor. I put it on speaker so if someone gets out of the car; they won’t see me on the phone.
