“Prick,” he spat and folded his arms over his chest.
I turned back to War, half expecting him to pick up where we’d left off, but he didn’t even acknowledge me. Guess the moment was over.
“Well, War, it’s been fun, but I gotta jet,” I said.
“Xander will show you the way out,” he said coldly. “And Xavier will drive you back to get your truck.”
His eyes simmered as he watched me go. Part of me wanted to get his number, but I had a feeling he’d try to stab me if I even asked. Might’ve been worth it though. That boy was a tiger, all fire and claws, and there was nothing more rewarding than taming a wild beast.
IhateddrivingtheHearse, but the van was for local driving only. We weren’t allowed to transport bodies in it, which meant I had to leave it in the factory garage. At least the cops left us alone in the Hearse as long as we didn’t go too fast. We cruised down the highway going ten over, Alvin’s body securely zipped into a body bag in the back. I tried not to think too hard about what had happened at the factory, but it was impossible not to since Xander was being so quiet.
I glanced over at him sitting next to me with his arms crossed and wondered if I should break the silence or let him brood. He was pissed that Paxton had taken his kill. How had that even happened? I was supposed to be the one in control of the scene, but the minuteheshowed up, it all fell apart. I’d yielded to whatever he wanted with barely a fight. When did I become such a fucking pushover?
“I’m hungry,” Xavier said eventually.
“It’s midnight,” I replied.
His head popped into the front between the two seats. “So?”
“So there’s hardly anywhere open except fast food places, and I refuse to spend my money in a drive thru.” Never mind that we had a body in the back. It’d be stupid.
Xander shifted in his seat to look at Xavier. “You know what sounds good right about now?”
“Chalupas,” they both said at once.
Fuck, it was creepy when they did that. I could only imagine how unnerving it would be if all three of the triplets were ever reunited and started thinking on the same wavelength.
“I am not taking you to Taco Bell,” I said firmly. “That stuff doesn’t even qualify as food.”
Xander crossed his arms. “Take me to Taco Bell for a chalupa or I’m telling Mom about Paxton.”
“Did I miss something?” Xavier asked, looking at me. “What happened?”
I scowled at Xander. Sometimes I forgot how damn manipulative he could be, especially when he was pissed off. “You’re such an asshole.”
“Least I didn’t make out with a guy covered in pedo blood,” he mumbled, looking out the window.
“You didwhat?” Xavier made a face. “Bro, gross.”
“Ok, first of all, we didn’t make out,” I clarified. Although the mental image of Paxton towering over me, covered in the blood of the guilty did have my dick half-hard again.
“It looked to me like you were seconds away from blowing the guy when I walked in,” Xander pointed out.
“What the fuck do you take me for? That place wasfilthy. The last thing on my mind was sex. Not all of us are as perverted as you two.”
“Don’t loop me in with him!” Xavier protested.
I shot him a glare. “Don’t act like you’re not into some kinky fucked up shit just because you’re ace.”
Xavier shrugged. “Guilty.”
“I’m not the one making out with some weird guy I don’t know!” Xander exclaimed.
I raised an eyebrow at his statement.
Xander sighed. “Okay, so that is normally what I do, but not this time. You’re supposed to be the uptight vanilla asshole of the family. I’m the sex-crazed fuckboy. That’s like my whole thing. You can’t have my thing!”
I groaned and rolled my eyes. “That’s not even what happened.”
