“I think you mean a great dicking.” He grinned. “And what did I make you forget?”

“That I promised Braeden we’d do a walkthrough of my house today. They’re almost done.” I waved my hand for him to open the door and we stepped out on to the porch together. “Are you sure you still want to live together?”

“More than anything.”

“We’ll need to decide where we are living.”

“I figured you’d move in here. We could sell your place.” He checked the door to make sure it locked. “Or rent it out?”

I twisted my lips. “You could move into my house. It’s a little bigger.”

“We’ll talk about it. What time do you need to meet him?”

“Two.”

We stopped next to my driver side door. “Nix and I could go with you.”

I placed a hand on his bicep. “That’s okay. It shouldn’t take long. You should spend more time with your family.”

“You sure?”

“Of course.” I went up on my toes to kiss him quickly and he squeezed my hips. I loved how he was never afraid to touch me. To show affection. I didn’t realize how much I would like it until Asher.

“Alright. I’ll meet you there.”

Asher followed me the entire way to the restaurant and parked in the space next to mine. He was opening my door by the time I had turned off the car and grabbed my purse. “You ready?”

“For salsa? Always.” I joked as we made our way inside, Asher’s arm slung around my shoulder. The hostess directed us to the back party room where everyone was already sitting.

“Aunt Haley!” Nix’s little voice called over everyone talking. I spotted her dark curls as she climbed off of Stella’s lap and ran in my direction. Dropping into a squat I held my arms out and waited for her. She slammed her little body into mine, almost knocking me off balance.

“Hi, sweetheart,” I said into her hair, standing with her in my arms. “I’ve missed you so much.”

“I missed you,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around my neck holding me close. My heart melted. I might need to cut back on traveling for work.

“What am I? Chopped liver?” Asher joked beside me with his hands on his hips, but the soft look in his eyes gave him away.

“Hi daddy,” she giggled, but didn’t let go of me.

“Hi.” Asher pecked her forehead and placed his hand on my lower back leading us toward the table.

“About time you got here,” Mason said as I took the seat next to Rylie. Phoenix wiggled off my lap, ran around the table and grabbed her tablet before sprinting back over to climb in my lap. Stella crossed her arms under her chest and glared in my direction.

Extra hate directed at me this morning I see.

Asher scoffed. “Coming from the guy who is usually late to these things.”

“Hey, I’m on time today.” Mason pointed to the table. We were the last ones to arrive. Asher gave his mom, Rylie and Sheila a quick kiss on the cheek before pulling the chair out next to me.

I couldn’t help but notice the way he deliberately ignored Stella and her sour expression. My stomach pinched as she stared at him. It was like she was willing him to look at her. Pay attention to her.

We ordered our food and laughed as I got to know Sheila and Jim better. They were amazing, and I knew where Nix got half of her personality. I reached for my water at the same time Rylie moved to grab the cheese dip, causing me to spill my drink on my leg and all over Asher’s hand.Fuck that was cold.He snatched his hand back faster than I’ve ever seen and shook the water off.

Rylie’s eyes widened for a second before she started laughing. “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s okay.” I wiped off the ice from my leg and checked to make sure that Nix wasn’t too wet. Luckily the majority of the spill was on the leg where Asher had placed his hand.

“Thanks, Ry,” Asher mumbled as he wiped his hand on the front of his shorts.
