My throat constricted because I knew what it would mean if I couldn’t give her a baby. “I can’t lose you too, Haley.” The words were raw.
A sad smile graced her beautiful face. “I can’t lose this dream. I love you, Asher. And I love Nix like she’s my own, but I want a baby. One that I get to carry and get to feel grow inside of me. One that’s a piece of me.” Her hand cupped my jaw. “And hopefully a piece of you.”
I nodded my head. “Okay.”
“Thank you, baby.”
A knock on my window startled us, making Haley jump in my lap. Stacey and Meghan stood outside making faces at us, lightening the mood.
I rolled down my window. “You two do know this is a hospital parking lot, right?” Stacey grinned.
“Hey, now. I don’t judge where you decide to get frisky.” Haley stuck her tongue out. “Besides, I have jeans on. Can’t exactly get a quickly in when there’s denim in the way.” She patted my chest, winking at me. “I knew I should’ve put my dress back on.”
I groaned as my head feel back against the headrest. My dick twitched as I thought about that dress earlier.
Stacey and Meghan laughed at my obvious pain. “Damn girl. Way to give him blue balls.”
“Eh. He’s had blue balls around me for the past two years. One more day won’t kill him.” Haley joked and rolled up the window, motioning for them to step back. I smacked her ass as she reached for the door handle.
“I’m getting you back for that.” I warned.
She bit her lip. “Was I wrong?” Discreetly, she pushed her hips down against me and I narrowed my eyes.
My jaw clenched. “No. But now I know what it feels like to be inside you. This is worse than normal blue balls.”
“Don’t worry.” She leaned in, sucking on my earlobe before whispering, “I’ll take care of that later.” Haley opened the door and hopped out leaving me alone with a hard dick.
I watched through the windshield as she laughed, looping her arm through Stacey’s as they walked toward the entrance. She glanced over her shoulder at me, winking. The smile she shot me in that moment slayed me.
She slayed me.
I gave myself a few more minutes to calm down before following her.
I’d follow her anywhere.
The nurse directed me in the direction of Cam and Stephanie’s room. I stopped in my tracks as soon as I stepped inside. Haley sat on the tan rocking chair in the corner of the room holding their little baby girl.
My heart seized as I watched Haley trace the pad of her finger down her little face, stopping on her little chin. The look on her face sealed it for me. I knew I would do everything my power give her whatever she wanted. In that moment, I knew I would face my own fears to make her dreams come true because the way her eyes softened at her best friend’s baby showed me exactly how much she truly wanted to be a mom one day.
When Mason and Rylie had Knox, I refused to allow myself to really see Haley with him. To see what could be. But now there is no doubt in my mind how wonderful she would be as a mother.
How much she wanted it.
How much I wanted that with her.
Haley’s tear-filled eyes met mine.
Beautiful.
I strode into the room, patting Mason on the back and shaking Cam’s hand congratulating him. Leaning down, I kissed a tired-looking Stephanie on the cheek.
Squatting down next to Haley, I brushed a piece of blonde hair out of her face before focusing on the little girl tucked lovingly in her arms. I didn’t look at Haley as I spoke, my voice low. “I want this.” She sucked in a sharp breath because I knew she thought she would be waiting forever for me to make a decision.
But my decision was crystal clear. I would do anything to keep Haley and give her everything she wanted.
I focused on her, pressing a quick kiss to her soft lips to wipe away the surprised but hopeful look on her face. “We’ll talk more about it later, but I want this. With you. I want it.” My hand moved gently over the soft newborn hair.
Haley’s blue eyes filled with happiness. “I love you.” She whispered, pressing her forehead to mine.
