I stared at my beautiful house. I’ve missed it.

Asher put the truck in park and turned toward me. “We’re home.”

“I can’t wait for this to be done,” I sighed. While I would love to stay here, I was in no shape to try to move things back in or live in a half-done house.

“Come on. We want to show you the progress.” He hopped out of the truck. Rounding the hood, he opened my door, gripped my hips and helped me down. Standing on my good side, he led me through the garage filled with construction tools to the house.

Asher smiled, before pushing the door open and motioning for me to go in first. A gasp left me as I looked around. “I had to make a few decisions without you, I hope that’s okay.”

Perfect.

Everything was perfect. Exactly how I had imagined it and all of my furniture was back in place.

I hadn’t finished picking out the backsplash or cabinets, but Asher picked out a beautiful hunter green cabinet and white backsplash that matched the counter tops.

“Asher,” I sighed. “It’s perfect. How did you do all of this?” I spun around checking every little detail. It’s my dream home. And it’s completely finished.

“Connor and I recruited everyone’s help. They’ve been working nonstop to get it done.” He slipped his hands in his pockets and rocked back on his heels. A sheepish expression on his face. “So, what do you say? Can we move in?” Did he sound nervous?

As if I could say no.

I walked over to him and carefully wrapped my good arm around his neck, my healing arm hanging down next to us. Asher wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me flush against his body. “I was hoping I could convince you. Did you see the guest room? It was supposed to be a surprise.” I had changed the plans once we got serious. I had Connor convert my guest room into a perfect princess room for Nix.

“Connor wouldn’t let me in there. It was off limits.” Asher squinted at me. “What do you have hiding in there?”

“It’s a surprise for you both.”

He kissed the tip of my nose and led me into the living room, settling us on the couch. “That’s good because she should be here in a few minutes.”

I rested my back against his chest as I found a comfortable position. My head tilted back against his shoulder. His finger hooked under my chin, angling my mouth so that he could kiss me.

“We give you thirty minutes alone and you still aren’t done?” Mason joked as he walked through the door, Nix and Rylie following closely behind.

“Like you can keep your hands off your wife,” I said, sitting up and pulling away from Ash. “Nix, guess what?”

“What?” She walked over and sat next to me. I wrapped my arm around her little body, pulling her into me.

“I have a surprise for you,” I said her eyes lighting up.

“What is it?”

“Come with me.” I gave her my hand and pulled her down the hall to her new room. “You ready?” I asked as Asher slid up behind us, his hands on my hips.

“Yeah!” She jumped, knocking my arm. I bit back a hiss from pain and smiled at her.

“Open the door.” She pushed the door open and squealed before running in the room. We followed behind her. The walls were a pale pink with a huge pink and purple castle painted on one wall. She had a canopy bed and a white dresser with an antique mirror. The top filled with bows, tiaras and make-up. She sat down and immediately started trying things on.

“Hales.” I looked over as Asher, his expression full of love. “When did you plan this?”

My cheeks warmed. “The week after Vegas.”

“Really?” He smirked. “You were still hesitant then.”

I patted his cheek. “Maybe to your face. But I knew I wanted to be with you. I just didn’t know in what capacity.” I shrugged. “I wanted to make sure everything was ready in case we needed to split our time between here and your place.”

“You wanted my daughter to be comfortable.”

“Always. I wanted this to be her home too.”
