Parker lifts his arm off me. “You’re down again.”
“You’re touching me too much.”
“So? I’m your boyfriend.”
“But Lewis and I were having a moment. Don’t touch me when that happens.”
“I’m trying to make him jealous.”
I groan. “And I’m trying to get him to like me.”
“Okay, fine.” He huffs, hiking a leg over the bench seat. “I’ll give you some breathing room. What are you ordering?”
“I want the whadda burger.”
Parker hums. “That’s my favorite thing on the menu.”
“Really? Mine too.” I smirk. “Do you think we’ll look too coupley if we order the same thing?”
“Hmm, maybe. Maybe you should order a double sizzler burger, like Lewis.”
“Ugh, I was joking. Besides, the double sizzler isn’t that great.”
“Don’t let Lewis hear you say that.”
“If you don’t think we should order the same, why don’t you get the same as Yvette? I think she’s ordering a lettuce leaf.”
Parker gives me an unimpressed look. “Ha, ha.”
I nudge him off the bench seat. “Just order me a whadda burger. You’re paying, because we’re on a date.”
He exhales in shock. “Wow, look at you calling the shots.”
I fold my arms and give him a smug smile. “Think of it as paying me back for all the baking I’ll be doing.”
He gives me a salute and heads towards the counter. “Okay, girlfriend.”
I roll my eyes but can’t help smiling as he makes his way inside.
Even though the deck is crowded, I manage to find some peace as I sit alone at the table. I look out at the dusk sky and admire the muted colors of the mountainous backdrop.
Lewis and Yvette make their way back to the table before Parker.
“Is Parker still inside?” Lewis asks.
I nod. “Yeah. I wanted to stay outside and soak up the view.”
Lewis grins, viewing the mountains. “It’s awesome. This is seriously one of the best places in town.”
Yvette clears her throat. “You’re only saying that because you haven’t been to Fratelli’s.”
“What did you order, Yvie?” I cut in.
“I got the eezy-peezy burger.”
I rub my lips together, suppressing a laugh. This place is known for their gourmet style burgers, and she got the plainest thing on the menu. Lewis has to be disappointed.
“Is Parker ordering yours?” Lewis asks.
