“Eww.” I wince again. “Can you pick someone else so we can stop talking about this?”

Tyler laughs. “Okay, Yvie.”

Ugh. Couldn’t you have picked better?

“I was going to pick dare,” Yvie says, “but after that display, I’m gonna have to say truth.”

“Okay,” Tyler sits back, ready to fire. “How does Lewis compare to your other boyfriends?”

“Dude,” Lewis hisses.

Milo points at him. “British accent.”

Lewis rolls his eyes, shifting awkwardly as Yvie gets ready to answer.

She looks Lewis up and down, and then clears her throat. “Well, he’s hit some nerves. There’s a word you used that I won’t repeat. But, my parents let him into the house. That hasn’t happened since Chase McIntyre, who I dated last year. So, he’s an improvement from the last few.”

Kai smirks. “Geez. How many boyfriends have there been?”

Yvie grins. “I believe I already answered my question.”

Tyler winks. “We know our question for the next round.”

Yvie rolls her eyes. “I get to pick someone now, right?” She zeroes in on me. “Kylie. Truth or dare?”

Even though it was inevitable I’d get picked, my stomach still clamps down. I’m way too scared to do a dare. What if it’s streaking? Or, I’m asked to kiss someone? Or, I have to do something impossible like a handstand?

But can I handle answering her question?

What if she asks if I have feelings for Lewis? Am I ready to blurt it out before they’re broken up? Or, what if she suspects Parker and I are fake dating? That would be so embarrassingandruin everything.

I grunt and slouch in defeat. “Dare.”

“I dare you to sing karaoke, but acapella,” Yvie says, grinning. “That means no music. Just you.”

The blood drains from my face and pools in my feet.

Everyone claps in encouragement, but I sink lower in my seat.

Parker rubs a circle on my back. “You can do this,” he whispers. “It’s time to use your Kikki confidence outside of the house.”

I deadpan him. “But I have music then.”

“I know you’ve memorized all the words from your baking playlist,” Parker replies. “Just close your eyes and listen to the song play in your head.”

“Come on, Kylie!” Tabitha cheers. “Woo.”

I stand up and do my best not to let my hands tremor. As everyone’s eyes fixate on me, I close my eyes. A Frontier Leaders song plays in my head, and I can’t help smiling at the beat. As I sing along out loud, my knees dip and my hips sway. There’s a round of cheers, causing me to laugh, and I manage to sing my way through the rest of the chorus.

When I open my eyes, I promptly sit back down. I giggle at the round of applause and lean into Parker as he gives me a side-hug.

He kisses the side of my head. “Knew you could do it.”

I bite into my lip, feeling a surge of adrenaline. “Thanks.”

He lets me go, saying, “Now you gotta pick someone.”

I glance around the group and then shrug. “Parker, truth or dare?”
