Josie leans in and hugs me. “Keep me posted. I’m still getting used to you hanging out with all these sporty people.”
I giggle as we pull out of the hug. “I promise, I’m not changing into a different person.”
Josie waves at Parker. “Keep her safe, or else.”
Parker gives her a salute. “Not a problem.”
Josie smiles, backing away from the table. “Bye, guys.”
I sit back down when Josie leaves.
“When does your shift end?” Parker asks. “Do you want a ride home?”
Laura ambles past our table. “If you clean behind the counter, you can sign off. It doesn’t look to get any busier here.”
“Okay, thanks,” I reply.
I leave the boys to finish their milkshakes, taking Parker up on his offer to drive me home.
Twenty
When I’m almost throughwith cleaning, Parker joins me behind the counter with two empty milkshake glasses.
“Thanks,” I say, taking them and placing them in the sink.
“I just realized I won’t be able to tell you about Lewis with my little brother hanging around.”
My muscles tighten, unwilling to go without the information. “Tell me now.”
Parker glances at the kitchen door. “Is it okay?”
I beckon him closer. “Sure it is. Spill.”
“He said he’s surprised by how much Yvie makes a big deal out of everything.”
I smirk. “Has he just met her?”
