Parker holds me tighter. “Maybe just give her some space.”

“She’s just checking she’s okay,” Kai says defensively.

“Kylie, I’m so sorry,” Yvie yelps, breaking my personal space. “Are you okay?”

I whimper, scrunching Parker’s T-shirt for comfort.

“You hit her,” Tabitha lashes out. “She could be bleeding.”

Parker rubs my back and rests his head by mine. “It’s okay, Yvie. It was an accident.”

Yvette exhales hard and backs away.

“You wouldn’t have said that if it was Tabby,” Kai accuses.

“Man, do we have to do this right now?” Parkers asks. “Kylie’s hurt.”

“I’m really sorry she got between us,” Tabitha says.

I just want to hug her and tell her it’s okay, but I’m too much of a mess to break away from Parker.

Tabitha lets out a shaky breath. “Kai, let’s just get back to Jamie and Milo.”

“Babe, give yourself a break,” Kai says. “You’re not the one that hit her.”

“I didn’t hit her,” Yvette yelps. “It was an accident.”

Parker clears his throat, gently swaying me. “Lewis, can you find some ice?”

“Yeah, sure,” Lewis replies.

Parker brushes my hair back. “Okay, they’re all gone,” he whispers. “Do you want to show me the damage?”

I shake my head against the nook of his arm.

“Come on, Kikki,” he coaxes. “I’m sure it’s not that bad.”

I sniff hard, lifting my head and rubbing my puffy, watering eyes. My left is much worse from Yvette’s finger jab.

Parker’s hand sneaks under my chin, lifting my head. “Move your hands,” he whispers. “Let me see.”

I sniff again, accidently letting a sob break free. I lower my hands and Parker angles my chin higher.

“Oh, it’s not too bad,” he says in an upbeat tone.

I swallow hard and croak, “Really?”

Parker runs a finger under my eye, trailing past my lash line. I suck in a breath as he reaches the tender area.

“Sorry,” he murmurs.

I let out a shaky breath. “It’s okay.”

“You’re not bleeding, if you were worried about that.”

“It didn’t feel like it was bleeding. It just stings so bad.” I wipe my eyes. “And my dang eyes won’t stop watering.”

Parker mumbles a laugh, pulling at the shoulder of his T-shirt. “I know. You soaked me.”
