“At least tell me it was good stuff.”

“Very good stuff.”

“And you and Kai are okay? Last night you two didn’t leave things on the best terms.”

He holds my hand tighter. “I apologized and said I was just being overprotective.”

“I hope he understood. It’s how he is with Tabitha.”

“Exactly.” He tugs on my hand and walks me to Josie’s table. “Come on, let’s not abandon your friend. Plus, my brother needs to be reined in.”

“I dunno. I like that he says what’s on his mind.”

Parker pulls an arm around my shoulders. “Because you’re not the target of his insults.”

William grimaces at us. “How could you let him kiss you?”

I snigger. “I know. I must be outta my mind.”

Josie gestures at William. “He was just asking about Brandy.”

Parker sighs, letting his arm fall off me. “Mom told him about your dog, and I have not stopped hearing about it. He’s relentless.”

William leans on the table. “I would give up the milkshake if I could meet the dog.”

My heart swells as I pout. “Aww. Well, you can do both. I can get you a milkshake, and you can meet Brandy.”

“Now?” William blurts.

“No, not now,” Parker quickly answers, pulling a chair over to the table. “We’ve got to get home after this.”

“But we can visit the dog first,” William argues.

“No we can’t,” Parker replies. “Kylie’s still working and we’re not seeing each other again until the camping trip.”

“Camping trip?” Josie questions.

Parker looks at me. “You haven’t told her?”

“We’ve had a lot to catch up on,” I reply.

Josie deadpans at me. “You’regoing camping?”

I grin and bat my lashes. “Wanna come with?”

Josie recoils. “Eww. No way.”

“I can pack extra camping gear,” Parker offers. “It’s no problem.”

She side-eyes him. “I don’t do camping. And until recently, my best friend didn’t either.”

Parker looks up at me, his smile twitching. “There’s a lot of new things your best friend now does.”

“Oh my gosh, you have the same look in your eyes that she does,” Josie says.

Parker blinks, shifting his gaze to Josie. “Huh?”

Josie gestures at the two of us. “You two look at each other like lovesick puppies.”
